well, after great thinking, i have come to the conclusion
that if i want the best out of my setup (and my knowledge) i
really need to use a fairly modern sequencer and my PC.

i cannot standSX versions of Cubase - i'd rather
stick to what i'm used to, and Cubase 5 is what I used
throughout college.

does anyone know if:
1) it will run well under Windows XP Pro sp2
2)rewire correctly with Reason 3

i'd really appreciate any help you guys can offer. as much
as i love the Atari, trying to get to grips with Creator is
doing my head in. i don't have the time at the moment to
read a huge manual (which sometimes over simplifies
things, and by doing so inadvertantly makes it harder to
understand....if that makes sense).

also i don't have a sampler, so i'd rather use the NN-XT in
Reason and have the capability to use the Reason synths and
REX player.

thanks people!

It seems like more people cant stand SX. I can't stand it
either. Btw, if Cubase 5 supports ReWire, it will most
likely work the correct way. It either works right, or it
doesn't work at all.

and SX also runs well under WinXP pro sp2, so 5 probably
will too

yes, it works under XP sp2 and it does rewire 'correctly'.

thanks people! :)

i used Cubase 4 and 5 during college and for a while
afterwards. then i got my iBook and PowerBook running OS X
and my only choice was Cubase SE / SX, and i hate it. things
had been moved around and everything.

i'd still like to get to use my Atari, but at the moment i
just wanna make tracks!

i am still thinking about buying a powerbook in the future.
Dont want games, art shit, and music, AND work, AND OTHER
shit on the same laptop. Want to have the powerbook for
music, and the lappy for the rest.

in retrospect, i was a fool for having been so pro-Apple - i
had 4 PowerBook 17" G4s die on me in less than a year, every
single one having major hardware failures. the last one i
had was bought in June, i had to take it back to Apple and
demand refund in July because the graphics card was failing
and the machine itself would get hot enough to cook an egg
on after only being switched on for 15 mins (no joke)

PC's may be susceptible to crashing a lot more (under
Windows) but at least I can trust the PC hardware
architecture - in my opinion Apple have really let their
computing products slip by in terms of quality control. they
seem too interested in ramming the goddamnfuckingipod down
your throat and through your rectum.

*ahem*

rant over :)
