SOOOOOO...what does everyone think?

IMO, it's kinda dissapointing. There are a couple of tracks
that really are good (Hypnotize,U-fig) just to think of a
couple of the top of my head. After first listen I didnt
really dig it. I liked Mezmorize much better.

Let's Discuss...and drink! If ya wanna.

=)

Personally they've been going downhill after the first album
came out. There were some good singles "storaged" and
"marmalade" but after that they slowly declined

agreed....Ill even go as far as to say Toxicity was a GOOD
ALBUM...but it seems like everything after that just DOES
NOT have the same feel to it. I agree with that though, the
first album is BESTEST.

=)

They are getting older. Tired. and more worn out i would
assume. The original spunk just isnt there. This old
greyhound has perhaps met its last day on the track

I likee. The band has changed though, definitely... they
are playing with different styles now. The jumpy metal edge
fades more with each release and there is more focus on
songwriting. There has yet to be a SOAD album I didn't
like. They all have their strengths IMO.

"Dreaming" and "Stealing Society" are particularly good
tracks from the new one.

It's a bit bollocks really, after listening to it for a week
sparingly half the songs do my head in and the rest are just
forgettable. 'Dreaming' has a tidy vocal by Daron but the
riffing is dreadful, 'Kill Rock N' Roll' has a nice chorus
and that's it... I like the banananananaterracottapie song
very much. But mostly I agree with vpusher.

And it sounds fucking awful stoned, I don't know why.

Yeah it was shithouse.

I havent heard any SOAD in a while either. I really don't
miss that lead singers voice either.

Bollocks to this NU Metal garble.

I'm interested what people who actually liked Mezmerize
thought of this one? Iron Lung mentioned he thought it was
worse. I haven't heard it yet, except for the video track,
which was OK.

Mesmerize let me down mega style, I guess I'm download
Hypnotize and see what I think, I've been looking forward to
it since it was supposed to be ''better'' and have less of
the twit guitarist.

One thing I dislike about their latest stuff is the lack of
that vaguely middle eastern flavor they used to have in
their riffs.

i liked mesmerize. so i guess i'll hafta have a listen to
hypnotize.

i agree that the eastern flavor is less, but isn't there one
track on mesmerize where they rock the fucking accordion? i
think what i like most is the schizophrenic time signature
changes and the drastic contrasting melodic vs. metal parts.
the lyrics and the vocals i am indifferent about.

They certainly do rock the accordian. In fact, I think
they're pretty adventurous, I have no complaints there.
Their hearts are definitely in the right place, they're not
sellouts and they aren't creatively stagnant. I just...
don't like their new songs as much as their old ones!
They're still very eclectic, maybe moreso than ever, but I
just don't think these guys are very good at doing anything
other than zany angular ''nu-metal'', and they did that kind
of thing better in the late 90s/very early 2000s.

They still have my respect as artists, even though a couple
of their latter-day songs sound suspiciously MTV-ready. But
they still try a lot of fucked up shit.

i didn't know they were "nu-metal." I thought "nu-metal"
were like limp bizcuit and lincoln park and all those "mommy
and daddy didn't love me" rap metal acts.

what i find funniest about those boo-hoo rap metal acts is
that rap had always been about how smooth you are, how bad
and ill your skills are, how you be disrespecting all other
MC's, and how much pussy you get. And then Lincoln Park
come along and start rapping about how my girl don't love me
enough and it's making me so sad i got to rap about it.
They don't get pussy, they be pussies.

Nah they're not nu-metal, I just don't know what to call
them so I put nu-metal with quotes around because a lot of
people lump them in (wrongly) with that crowd. I don't think
they fit snugly into any scene.

Linkin Park I must admit did some interesting stuff on their
first album. Unfortunatly they are a one trick pony and once
you have heard one track it begins to grate on your nerves
on the second track.

To be honest I don't think that we are 'target audience' for
their formula.

heheh i called them lincoln park instead of linkin park.
abraham lincoln park. heheheh. that's actually not funny i
guess.
