yes they are. it isn't even whiskey.. it's burboun.

burboun in general is the budweiser of whiskey... making it
out of corn.. what the fuck were they thinking?

oh, wait.. they probably thought "this way, it'll taste like
nothing!"

If you pay real close attention to jack you can taste the
exact smell of opening a pack of cigs. Open a fresh pack and
smell the filters. Its like a hint of raisens or something.
Fear jack!

Yeah but i dont know much about the hard stuff. I like
certain things. I like rum and scotch-whiskey blends. They
work nice for me.

Frankly i dont know what makes burboun better or different.
I'll be honest. I could talk about stouts all day!

youre wrong, bourbon is whiskey, scotch is its older
brother

all scotch's are whiskies, not all whiskey's are scotch

bourgon is made with corn, mash & malt - hence why its brown
and not clear !!!

Honestly, I fell in love with Maker's Mark on a Hiking trip,
so part of it is the nostalgia i guess.

That night, it was very cold out so the Maker's Mark was
ambiently chilled, so no ice was needed.

it was cold, thick, and tart, but not too "peaty" or
leathery, like a lot of whiskeys and especially scotches can
be.

so yeah, that's my favorite bourbon now.

burboun isn't whiskey and scotch isn't anything. it's just
an illusory difference in america. the rest of the world
distinguishes quite nicely between burboun and whiskey, but
in america, people call burboun whiskey and whiskey scotch
for some silly reason...

90 is VERY hoppy, VERY, almost dries your mouth out

120 is the best IPA i believe ive ever had, but its seasonal
and limited = hard to get

there is a bar here in philly that sells 120 for $10 a
bottle

ugh...

Chuck Norris' tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried.

Chuck Norris sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good
looks and unparalleled martial arts ability. Shortly after
the transaction was finalized, Chuck roundhouse kicked the
devil in the face and took his soul back. The devil, who
appreciates irony, couldn't stay mad and admitted he should
have seen it coming. They now play poker every second
Wednesday of the month.

Chuck Norris once roundhouse kicked someone so hard that his
foot broke the speed of light, went back in time, and killed
Amelia Earhart while she was flying over the Pacific Ocean.

Chuck Norris built a time machine and went back in time to
stop the JFK assassination. As Oswald shot, Chuck met all
three bullets with his beard, deflecting them. JFK's head
exploded out of sheer amazement.

Chuck Norris won 'Jumanji' without ever saying the word. He
simply beat the living snot out of everything that was
thrown at him, and the game forfeited.

The chief export of Chuck Norris is pain.

Chuck Norris is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order
are trademarked names for his left and right legs.

Chuck Norris was the fourth Wiseman. He brought baby Jesus
the gift of "beard". Jesus wore it proudly to his dying day.
The other Wisemen, jealous of Jesus' obvious gift
favoritism, used their combined influence to have Chuck
omitted from the Bible. Shortly after all three died of
roundhouse kick related deaths.

When Chuck Norris sends in his taxes, he sends blank forms
and includes only a picture of himself, crouched and ready
to attack. Chuck Norris has not had to pay taxes ever.

After much debate, President Truman decided to drop the
atomic bomb on Hiroshima rather than the alternative of
sending Chuck Norris. His reasoning? It was more "humane".

Chuck Norris frequently signs up for beginner karate
classes, just so he can "accidentally" beat the snot out of
little kids

The original theme song to the Transformers was actually
"Chuck Norris--more than meets the eye, Chuck Norris--robot
in disguise," and starred Chuck Norris as a Texas Ranger who
defended the earth from drug-dealing Decepticons and could
turn into a pick-up. This was far too much awesome for a
single show, however, so it was divided.

hmm..

well i thought bourbon was whiskey from the southern states.
scotch is whiskey from scotland.

it's all made from sour mash though which i thought
determined it as whiskey.

but i don't know too much about it.

offline euphonicfilter from illadelphia (United States) on 2005-11-18 14:40 [#01781757]

it depends on the contents, the "mash", and the barrels in
which it is aged

hence the difference in port wines and wines

oak cured rum and non-oak-cured rum

barley wines - beer aged in barrels

etc etc etc

scotch is clear, generally, because it lacks the sulfites
and additives of bourbon, or whiskey

all scotches are whiskies
not all whiskies are scotches...
i learned this from chefs

Bourbon is an American form of whiskey, made from at least
51% but not more than 79% corn or maize (typically about
70%) with the remainder being wheat, rye, and malted barley.
It is distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof, and aged
in new charred white oak barrels for at least two years
(usually much longer). In this way it is similar to Scotch
Whisky which is also aged in charred barrels. Most of the
time it is then adjusted to 80–100 proof and bottled,
although some are bottled at “cask strength”.

To legally be called Scotch whisky, the spirit must conform
to the standards of the Scotch Whisky Act 1988, which
mandates that the spirit

Must be distilled at a Scottish distillery from water and
malted barley, to which only other whole grains may be
added, have been processed at that distillery into a mash,
converted to a fermentable substrate only by endogenous
enzyme systems, and fermented only by the addition of yeast,

Must have an alcoholic strength of less than 94.8% by volume
so that it retains the flavor of the raw materials used in
its production,
Must be matured in Scotland in oak casks for not less than
three years, and
Must not contain any added substance other than water and
caramel colour.
