XLT VIBES #18 | Psychedelic

offline zero-cool on 2005-11-15 02:09 [#01778309]
Points: 2720 Status: Lurker

hi

i had a thought for a new xltronic vibes, since past vibes
have all had a theme, eg... drum & bass, game music, maybe a
new theme or genre would be "Psychedelic".
similar to the late 60's 70's rock psychedelic stuff, this
would be what would electronic psychedelic music, having not
really any rules just that it has to stick within some
requirements, as a start of course

NB: THIS IS NOT YET AN OFFICIAL VIBES. It's just guaging
interest.

thanks

the only rule is that it should just be as trippy as
possible

is being on LSD one of the requirements of
participation?

I would really be interested to see the results of this one.
I know we have seen to have a ton of vibes lately but a
Psychedelic fused IDM could very well be intreguing

i think there needs to be a lot more enthusiasm before it's
considered for official status.

even when there's 100+ replies to a post gauging interest,
there've been problems with getting enough people for the
vibes (people drop out, etc) and getting people to finish
their tracks on time..

I think this is a cool idea, but I have a feeling any song I
try to make for the "psychadelic" genre is just going to
turn out sounding like ambient electronica, because to me
the trippiest sounds are slow, evolving pads with a lot
going on in them (aka thickly layered)

but I do give this project 2 thumbs up.

talking about mentioned or linked?

offline zero-cool on 2005-11-20 01:38 [#01782816]

well i don't really have any particular song i want you to
abid by.
but just what you think would be psychedelic, as if what
comes to mind with the word psychedelic.
but i guess songs should include the hendrix feel in some
way, and maybe acidy, and atmospherical (my idea of
atmosphere doesn't have to be ambient, but sounds that make
you feel weird) - example : 1

the ingredients include, at the moment

1) dreamy sounds

2) and whatever you think is Psychedelic

i guess i have no idea on what it sould sound like, so maybe
some of you guys can throw in a few ideas

just your song should change your listeners feelings.

good idea.

maybe to do this you have to be in a abnormal state
etc...:drugs/ drunk, tired, angry,.

so this complication can be Psychedelic / Grunge

Some of the Rephlex Manhunt Remixes also have Devil-sideshow
feelings.

One of the first tracks I was proud of (that got lost in a
HD crash) was a devil sideshow track.

BTW I'm in on this, when's the deadline?

I'm having a great laugh here! And I've remembered a fart
story of my own. One evening, my pal (the home ec. teacher)
and I returned to the school to prep for the Hospitality
Club kids who would be doing some baking for fund raising.
One of us said something funny (can't recall who) and we
both started to laugh. My pal let a ripper go and we laughed
even harder. Well, the rippers continued in concert with her
laughing. We laughed so hard, we cried. As we rounded the
corner in the hall and passed my room to go to the home ec.
lab, we noticed about a dozen people looking out at us. When
we realized there was a school board meeting going on in
there and what we'd been doing, we couldn't contain
ourselves. We scooted down the hall, closed ourselves in the
home ec. lab, and absolutely fell apart. Ahhh, good times,
good times.
