Sherbet Head is my favourite TCH track at the moment.

It's certainly not the weakest.

After not exactly slating it, but describing it as
dissapointing, I'm thinkning I may have to eat my words. I
was listening to it in bed last night and I started to
really get into it. It's more subtle and less instantly
gratifying than previous works, but the fact that it's
continuing to grow on me means that soon I could be enjoying
it as much as MHTRTC and Geogaddi. I think originally I
found the huge amount of layered detail a bit excessive and
too much to take in, but as I get more familiar with the
tracks, I can appreciate the smaller things in them.

my man Ceri on point as usual, I was a bit shocked that u
didnt like it in first place, but im happy u enjoying it
more now...its strong to admit that u starting to like it
now after that brutal review of TCH. BOCs releases are
often like this, I didnt like Geogaddi that much at first
but liked it more and more with each listen...BOCs stuff are
like that and those type of songs are the best, those that
grows on you.

Is it just me or are all the really short filler tracks
really bad/boring. Like, yeah, I know, they can make a synth
sound like it was on television 30 years ago. Boring little
melodies too, nothing like the amazingly fantastic old tune
shorties. The rest is tight, the main tracks are all great,
and tears from the compound eye is moving and beautiful.

hmmm some of the best short tracks are built in to the big
ones.....like the end of Satellite Anthem Icarus and 84
Ponitac Dreams etc etc

its a massive grower.

oscar/dreamcoat/satellite... all 8/10
- dayvan cowboy loses a point for not being long enough
- farewell fire loses one for haveing such a along
fadeout...

then again these are the details the i sort of like about
BoC.... leaving you wanting more.. its a neat trick

i hate judging individual track merits on an album with real
flow. this is definitely an album that needs to be listened
from start to end for maximum enjoyment.

i'd rate the album at 4.25/5. it's pretty rad.

after only 2½ proper listens, I'd say 4/5 in total...
chromakey, satellite, dayvan, oscar are the highlights.

and I'm glad people didn't buy that BS about it being their
all-so-trendy "guitar" album. It's really not that
different. It's not any more superficial or accessible than
their previous albums.

for me, the album that took the most time to "grow" on me
was the e.p. 'beautiful place out in the country.' i had
similar sentiments to a lot of people and TCH. i fond it
too simple, booring, repetative. but as i became more of a
BOC fan, i started to like it more. it's still not my
favorite. but i did have amo bishop roden play at my
wedding...

BOC write damn good, tasty stuff. it's not show-offy or
full of in-your-face electro wizardry. when i want
borderline self-indulgent tweakery, i can get it elsewhere.
