his music is a little too far on the wrong side of corny for
me in general. he has his moments, but i can't remember
what they are. basically, i am just never in the mood to
listen to solvent.

i like earlier solvent better than more recent releases, but
i think he peaked with "solvent city." not too crazy about
his lyrics, either. for recommendations:

afx's melodies from mars...

any bochum welt released on rephlex...

isan...

novel 23's "melodies of childhood for advanced imagination"
lp...

tim koch's album "shorts in alaska"...

herrmann und kleine's "kickboard girl" ep...

casino versus japan's "whole numbers play the basics"...

marumari's "supermogadon"...

and "plock" by plone.

these come to mind.

I bought Apples & Synths on the weekend and I'm liking it.
Very clean production.

I just got apples and synths from emusic. Great stuff. Yes
the tunes would be cloying - WOULD - if the sound design
were not so fantastic. The powerful sawtooth bass on My
Radio could make your eyes water like slicing an onion. But
it fits into the song perfectly. Terrific mix and
production.

smapples

Solvent is great. I've been getting into him again lately,
and fleeps has a good point, many of the tracks are pretty
cheesy, but he makes up for it by making them sound
outstanding.

Duckie is a great song

don't be afraid to embrace the sweet cheese! i say.

i love the memorable melodies and vibe of innocence and
sweetness, especially on the second album and "solvent
city."
