i guess my underlying point is that you are so far from
being interesting or rational, i simply don't feel like
looking for factual information for you to read about the
factual things that have happened in this world just so you
can spout off more of your "philo 101 stuff"

i would think that a bunch of neocon jew fascists would have
enough blood money hoarded up to afford a decent dedicated
server for their propaganda.

Often times threads like these result in members insulting
each other and i think thats the biggest thing i dislike
about them

yes, especially when it's someone like me who likes to make
flippant remarks off the cuff but doesn't really want to
convince anyone of anything. hahaha

we're having a good time

Yeah, honestly I kinda hate it when people call other people
sheep when they have differing viewpoints.

All the condesention should be left out of these debates.
It would make for much more happy fun time.

shouldn't be eating trash.

so feed me food for thoughts. i may hide behind self parody
when facts fail me but at least i am on the search. i am not
nearly as closed as you think. i have reasons for the things
i believe that aren't connected to politics but personal
principles. i am being dumb and provocative to, well,
provoke, but i get nothing useful back. doesn't anyone see
how shouting out the tired slogans that you can see in the
first few posts of this thread is just as bad as anything
your supposed enemies on the right do? it's just as
thoughtless, sheeplike and so on. that's one small thing
that needs attention called to it, even though it seems
blazingly obvious to me, apparently it's not as much as I
thought. Well in any case, no hard feelings to anyone, I am
a dumb character today but it will pass

if you summarize your thoughts in simple bullet-point format
i will either try to refute or explain why i agree with them
one by one.

well, believe it or not, although i make flip and brash
statements, i am far from a reactionary. i am well informed
about political and current issues and have kept on top of
things for years.

why haven't i bothered explaining myself? i don't feel like
it. simple as that. it's just a messageboard and i know i
won't solve the world's ills with it.

so, you can take my "they're idiots" comment at face value,
which would be fine, but i assure you that there's more to
my thinking than that.

1. folks on the left are just as much, if not moreso than
the right, prone to use mindless rhetoric, and spout
exaggerated or false exclamations, such as "bush
and his policy of ethnic cleansing" (completely divorced
from reality), "the invasion has led to
150,000 innocent deaths" (not as much as this, and most of
civilian deaths are by terrorists not coalition troops) ,
"Despite America stealing
all their oil." (nope), "American
imperialism" (doesn't exist)

2. no one here, despite the incredible ferocity of your
beliefs, can take the time to refute simple statements in an
article that concerns the basis of the iraq war, and
addresses the assumption that bush lied to get the thing
started. the article, even if written by a biased source,
contains many direct quotes from people as far back as the
clinton administration which alone are enough to convince a
sane person that it was not a lie in the common sense...
where the person speaking claims something they know to be
untrue. yet these same people who refuse to defend their
beliefs will no doubt go on parroting the 'bush lied,
thousands died' mantra, or some sad variant.

my main concern here isn't politics. it's just to make
people aware of themselves. it's easy to just shout the
party line when you begin with the assumption you are
correct already. i'm asking you to take away this assumption
and then examine your actions and speech, with fresh
unsullied eyes. this goes for people on either side of the
political spectrum. it's a lesson we should all try,
including myself

coming off some nightmares so look past my poor grasp of
grammar and form for now

1. folks on the left are just as much [agreed],
if not moreso [meh.. probably disagreed] than
the right, prone to use mindless rhetoric, and spout
exaggerated or false exclamations

2. i tried a couple of times to get to the article
and it never fully loaded. i don't think bush "lied", but i
do think he knowingly exagerated the threat. i also think
he probably genuinely expected to find wmd in iraq... but,
that's no excuse for claiming to have indisputable evidence.
i think that it should be investigated, and if he knowingly
mislead us into war he should probably be impeached. i
think that's about as dispicable an act as a president could
perform.

i think something needed to be done in iraq. i thought
something needed to be done in iraq years ago, because i
think saddam made it clear that he was not going to comply
with the terms of the cease fire from gulf war I. i think
bush acted irresponsibly by behaving in such a way that it
turned world opinion drastically against the us. i think
that behavior cost many innocent lives on all sides.

i also think opposition to the war by germany, france, and
russia was based on their own best interest (namely under
the table arms and oil deals) and that that hasn't been
investigated or reported on as much as it probably should
have been because it is an unpopular stance to take.

Dude... stop posting to that site. It takes forever to load.
You could have downloaded the Power of Nightmares by the
time this page has loaded :(

Political discussions of this nature never work. As VPusher
said earlier, all it ends up being is a bunch of people who
normally would be talking about something else, angrily
calling eachother biggots and idiots.

Reguardless of who is 'right' (which we couldn't prove
anyway, seeing as both the left wing and right wing
propoganda is so diluted with extremist rhetoric that
impartiality is unattainable), what is happening here is a
question of paradigms.

User: Vacant seems to believe that the US is justified and
theres no way to convince him otherwise. Any argument only
solidifies his belief that the people who believe the US is
wrong in their actions are all burnt out hippies.

Everybody else seems to believe that the US is evil and
theres no way to convince them otherwise. Any argument only
solidifies their belief that the people who believe the US
is right in their actions are all reactionary twats.

vacant = condescending prick who, dispite having some good
and valid points, expresses himself in such a way that he
has precisely zero percent chance of affecting anyones
opinion.

I'm a capitalist. I believe in fair trading between
consumers and producers. I don't believe the US support fair
trade.

Just bitterness and naughty behavior. This thread gets a
spanking
