Were you dissapointed with drukQs?

the style he was using at the time was quite whimsical and
playful, Logon Rock Witch, Donkey Rhubarb, To Cure A
Weakling Child for example. Im not really a big fan of this
and it always taints my appreciation of that time a little
bit.

Not at all, I loved it at the time and I love dusting it off
every few months. It was also probably the most interesting
album release I've lived through, lots of controversy,
exciting hype and interesting fallout.

How can you have something against whimsical and playful?
That's like having something against kittens and sunshine.

I really like kittens, and drukqs

drukqs was an album that people either loved or loathed. i
remembered waiting for it forever, then getting it the day
it came out, and having to go somewhere else besides my
local indie store and then-venue to get it, because they
didn't get their shipment. there are many stand-out tracks,
"54 Cymru Beats" is one of the best Aphex tracks EVER, but I
didn't find myself listening to it as often as RDJ album or
ICBYD. I don't know why, but it didn't grab me as much. But
I still like the album.

drukqs is an editing masterpiece. It's like a guitar solo.
Actually, Windowlicker is his best editing masterpiece, but
you know what I mean.

average/boring/uninteresting. autechre too. otto von
schirach will never be stopped though.

Drukqs is fantastic. I really liked Alberto Balsalm (and
because of it, ICBYD) a couple of years back, but now it
sounds bit sparse and repetative compared to the vast
majority of Drukqs. I do like his early stuff (SOSW for
example is still my favourite basic/minimal techno album),
but it, like Analord, now sounds like it's made out of loops
and lacking detail compared to drukqs.

I find Drukqs boring. Yeah, it is a lot of programming and
stuff - but that doesn´t make it good! The only strong
track on that release is avril 14th. It´s all the same with
Windowlicker - a rather basic melody with weird voices and
programming = boring. I like RDJ's basic melodies which are
good on it´s own - those who blows you away WITHOUT any
stuff around them to make them more "interesting"... (like
"actium"! :D )

(Yeah, I´m an oldtimer, I´ve been into his stuff since 92.
"Drukqs" must have been a great record for all newbies and
for RDJ getting more fans though - there´s a lot who
discoverd him with this record it seems?)

analords are ok, some excellent tracks but also quite a few
weak ones. althoough even those are way more interesting to
the new boc :)

i rarely listen to drukqs compared to analord, saw, rdj,
icbyd

i do love the piano tracks and "mount st micheal" but i
think the beats are too clanky on most of the other heavier
tracks.
.. the beats on HAB and his live unreleased stuff are much
nicer.

but drukqs is waste of space plus analord is waste of money.
drukqs could've been 1 cd and analord....less lps.

How is it possible to get bored by non-linear progressive
music?

obara is spot on !!!

druqcktzs had bout three good songs on it
(dont give me the prepared piano bit...so many have done it
so much better before)

analord had two good songs in it "cilonen" and "fnxfunk10"
or whatever the hell that weird name was

both seemed like bad sales tactics to me
(yes im aware of the interview where he said rephlex didnt
make much money off analord - but that doesnt mean i believe
him - just like i dont believe that he doesnt listen to
brian eno)

"fnxfunk10" you cant even name the fucking song! shows how
much attention you have paid to the release. have you fuck
listened to all of drukqs and analord. and you here being
critical of someone elses effort!

baffling.

Only the first time I listened to it.
I still know some of the tracks by heart after two years of
not hearing it.

I don't think anyone should be disappointed by art. It's
what it is, what the artist made. Your perception of it is
a separate thing. You can mix the two together, but then
you've got three separate things. Once you manage to see
the art thru the eyes of the artist, you'll have no choice
but to like it.
Everyone is different, so it's just about impossible for
someone else than yourself to make nothing else than things
you like.

RDJ probably understood this a long time ago and isn't
fooling himself when he says he likes his own stuff most.

fuck no, analord is fenix funk and ALSO the other track from
analord 10, bfmnda or stuff. and druckqs has many good
traqcks, it's just one cd would be enough. oh wait it's
aphextwin.nu let's stop this blasphemy.

it's awesome, some people have an issue with it for not
being cohesive, having an album structure. whatever! It's
got amazing tracks, it's so obviously not meant to be
listened all the way thru. You can easily make your own
drukqs selection. I'ts liek when people say stupid stuff
like "Oh this album would be much better if it had 3 tracks
instead of 40 becuase it ruins the flow" BULLSHIT! what's
important is the music inside.

The opening track, is one of the best opening tracks on ANY

Drukqs is sooo easily one of the best albums ever. I only
listen to the 9 best tracks from it (no piano etc.) so it
goes for 56 minutes and closed with "thanks for your
attention bye" The piano is only really on there so the
album works when you play CD1 and CD2 at the same time,
which i also listen to sometimes.
