the refresh rate here is 15 seconds from 1 post to another. Back when the board moved fast it was called for. Thats why alot of us are over 10k we were here during the golden time |

alright, interesting enough. nobody seems to share the same pseudo-schitzophrenia (sp?) with me.. I think it is natural, and inevitable, to be slightly different from your real life personality online, because of the strangeness and unconventionality of the medium, when compared to real-life. to address some people: r40f: hello - it's not exactly something I can control 100%. I thought i made that explicitly clear in the first post, in that some of the characteristics of the unsavoury personas creep into my web conversations with old friends. it's not a case of growing up, i think it's more a case of being aware of it and becoming a master of it as opposed to a victim. mimi: yes i do have different names for the characters. although my regular names (kopf, ventolin and redrum) are general identities, if i'm on IRC and slip into one of the nasty personas i'll change my nickname to something random in my head (like RASTAFARI, BASSBIN, PORICK, HERBERT, etc). if i'm being bizarre it's always, always "omgwtfbbq" (stolen from somethingawful). not that you care. but thanks for all of your feedback. |

in that case, you ought to consider the strong possibility that these episodes are actually NOT mutiple personas at all, but rather facets of the one personality you do have. in other words, you can't help it because these are all parts of who you really are. |

Yes, they could be considered as such, but the fact of the matter is they only manifest themselves when I'm sitting in front of a computer. talking to people face-to-face is a much different matter. But yes, i totally take your point - all this crap, from all these personas, are coming from the one person, the one brain, the one mind. |

Yeah, and there's the fact that what you are saying will possibly read by up to 40, 50 people, so you may (subconciously at least) take that into account in how you "speak." I know that people change a lot when there's a small group of people in comparison to a one-on-one conversation, so it's bound to happen. |
