thinks

That was effective. Usually they want you to stare at this
shit for like 60 seconds before something happens but this
one cut right to chase. I appreciate that.

you see the green afterimage when the pink disappears, so
using one dot doesn't really change anything

explanation

We noticed a real optical illusion in a waterfall once (at
yosemite if I remember). If you looked at it for awhile, it
looked exactly like the water was flowing up instead of
down. Sort of like how wheels/helicopter blades look like
they're spinning the opposite direction at certain speeds
perhaps.

ahh! I can't stop seeing the green. I simply saw a lack of
pink at first. Now I still see the green even when I cover
everything but one dot.

It's not surprising this stuff happens really when you think
of the rods and cones in the eye.

yeah....an interesting factoid i heard was that u dont see
colour w/ yr peripheral vision at all, your brain fills it
in for u

offline hedphukkerr from mathbotton (United States) on 2005-11-02 16:33 [#01768230]
Points: 8833 Status: Regular

you dont see _as much_ color in your peripheral. this is
because cones (the parts of your eye which see color) are
more concentrated at the center of your eyes, where as rods
(b&w + motion) are more highly concentrated around the
edges.
