were you ever a Goth? so pretentious, spooky Goths... bad
poetry, dressing up like the Addams family, white makeup on
the face, red lipstick, listening to Depeche Mode, Cure,
Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy or whatever the hell they listen
to now.... "belagosi's deadddddd.... blah blah blah""

No but I have some cool goth-ish music(Coil, Current 93, Sol
Invictus, Death in June, Dead can Dance, etc...) I don't
wear any makeup or black clothes or things like that... Is
that OK with you? :)

Sisters of Mercy had a great sense of humour, they did a
cover of 'Jolene' by Dolly Parton!
But most of the Goths i met had no such sense of Humour and
couldn't smile for fear of cracking an inch thick of white
makeup...

There used to be loads of goths at my local club, but
they've all dissappeared the last 2 or so years.

i like Depeche Mode, the Cure, Bauhaus and the Sisters of
Mercy but i'm no goth and never have been. You dont need to
be a Goth to listen to that stuff.

I was at a club last year and it was a "goth night". My
friends and I were joking about how they try to be different
by being like everyone else. Then 2 hot chicks sat on the
couch across from us and started making out. Now everytime
I hear goth I think of the hot chicks making out and I
smile.

i'm just bashing Goths i guess, some of the music is cool
and is proto-"idm(stupid term)". i always found that with
Goths, like with alot of Club "kids" goers, that the
interest in the music was often obsessed, but very
shallow... the music was just another accessary for "being
diiferent", like the clothing, by acting exactly the same as
everybody else in their group.

i worker with some psycho Goth chick once, she worked in her
white plaster makeup, even thou it got all greasy and
disgusting... she had various mental problems, used to have
a "nervous breakdown" almost every month. used to get in
fights/arguments almost every day with somebody. and she
wasn't hot either. her nickname at the bars she freq. was
"worlds ugliest chick". then she moved on and became a "fag
hag" (thats what she called herself). so maybe my
viewpoint is colored with a little bitterness and bad
memories.

I agree, i like all those groups and some other so called
'goth' groups. and i'm not goth. =) i went to a few NIN
shows during their last tour and found a few goths i spoke
to saying, they like to 'hide' behind the makeup. like it's
a role they are playing, so they can feel free to do
'whatever.' perhaps they were the more theatrical types. but
i can understand their sentiment. sometimes it would be cool
to be anonymous =)

shirt with pinapples on it. It made me happy : )

would be a sea of black leather and PVC.

You silly fool you can't wear sandles in a mosh pit.

i used to wear a lot of black but i didn't consider myself
goth. more industrial. i was into skinny puppy and NIN and
stuff. but i never wore veils or blouses or flowey dresses
or those pirate shirts. I knew this one goth guy named
"satyrico" who had a veil for his laptop... tool.. I later
found out his real name was Doug
Now, in seattle most of the goths are either tall overweight
dopey guys or overweight stumpy girls.

I used to be a goth with what could be called the second
wave..was into stuff like Joy Division, The Cure, Sisters of
Mercy Fields of Nepilim, The Damned, Soiuxsie and the
Banshees etc..
Coil, Current 93 Death in June, Sol Invictus all were in
one way or the other off shoots of the mother of all
industrial Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV and hence have
their roots in industrial..and are still industrial if you
look at the true definition of industrial, Paganism, Rituals
etc were a core part of Industrial..which is quite different
form Industrial rock a la Rammstien, Manson and even NIN to
certain extent..
Dead Can Dance are a different kettle of fish once
again..they were a part of the ethereal music movement that
was big for a while and consisted of 4AD bands such as
Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil (not to be confused with
Coil), Lush etc...

listened to cheesy synthesizer music ?! EH ?

I like Goths, they're pretty interesting... just not the
really theatrical, overblown Goths. That just sucks. Gothic
things kind of facsinate me, vampires and death and stuff
like that. I don't practice witchcraft or the occult or
anything like that, but I'm interested in it.

I've been ''accused'' of being a Goth before because of my
mood and my complexion, hmm...

I may look goth because of what I wear but I aint one. Its
kinda funny when someone says "Hey, you cant like metal and
Dance at the same time..." because the way certain ahem,
"goths" are here is you cant listen to more than one musical
genre. Fuck, Im into almost everything apart from commercial
poppy chart shite like Linkin Park, Shitney Spears etc. :)

skinny puppy is one of my favourite bands.

though most of the scene has "evolved" into the liking of

actually consumated our relationship to Too Dark Park!
Remix Distemper is such a good album apart from the autecher

I thought the Ae remix was one of the best tracks on Rymix
Distemper. Most of the others were trite boring cheezy
techno shite (IMO). At least Ae had the balls to do
something new with the song. Well maybe there were a couple
other good ones but not many.

I like black not because it represents death, but because of
it's other qualities, it's interesting.

It's not a color, it is only the abscence of color and
light, nothing is truly black except black holes or infinite
space. I've had to tell people so many times that the hair
they have isn't really black, but dark brown. The black coat
I own is not really black, but chemicals made to appear that
way. It's a fascinating idea, really.
