also nearly god and pre-millenium tension -- i.e., his
early stuff. i was very into it in highschool and kinda
forgot about it. today "she makes me wanna die" crossed my
thoughts and i downloaded all his early albums again. really
paranoid sublimity or sublime paranoia (choose). 'trip hop'
in the very best, unexploited, pre-"urban music" nonsense,
bristol working class autumn sort of way. great stuff. i had
good taste as a teenager.

yeah, great guy for sure. bit pretentioous at times it
seems, but almost every song of his is great. not many
artists that can put out that much quality. blowback was a
bit weak, but there are some great songs on vulnerable.

my favourite album is angels with dirty faes and my fav song
probably christiansands.

i really love martina topley-bird's voice, too. i somehow
missed her album 'quixotic' (later re-released in north
america with a different master and tracklisting as
'anywhere'), looking for it (rather unsuccessfully) on slsk
right now.

maxinquaye is still a favorite of mine, and will be for the

He was funny in The 5th Element.

I got Maxinquaye and Nearly God, but stopped buying his
records after that.

I enjoyed Blowback aswell. He is one of those artists that
has an album for every mood.

loved his all pre-"blowback" stuff. i think "pre-millenium
tension" is his best and darkest albums. i got 2 vinyl 12"
from this album "christiansands" and "tricky kid" - awesome.
i like his sing "record companies" from "Angels With Dirty
Faces". Tricky is my highschool time.
