how come he doesn't get mentioned often? infact i can't remember if he was mentioned at all. i thought he was quite popular and stuff, although this could as well be the reason he doesn't get mentioned :)
anyway, i think his music is pretty great. im listening to 52 spaces atm, sort of sound score thing and it's awesome.
he's got real nice ideas when it comes to live shows as well. some years back he collaborated with some video artist, they would travel around the world, rimbaud would records sound and video artist would film..the theme was they would present every city they visited to the local crowd. i haven't seen the videos, but that album was awesome.

He used to be quite popular, not sure if that is really the right word though.
I used to have a copy of "spore" many years ago. Loved that cd, no idea where it went though :(
find your way to his website, there is about half a dozen tracks to download.

Scanner has had a strong underground following for a long time. Back before I started hearing lots about autechre and BOC, scanner seemed to be a pretty well respected guy, but like thomas brinkmann and T Rauschmere, its a different underground scene, so doesn't get much mention here.

i didn't know rauschmiere was that popular. and it's a completly different type of music..way more party oriented. but you probably only mentioned him as far as popularity is concerned..same with luciano/villalobos..

different scene thing.
Scanner used to be pretty "big" when Air Liquide and Jammin' Unit were on the go.
Whatever happened to them?

A lot of magazines seemed to think he was going to explode in the underground sence. Never seemed to happen. Have you heard anything outside of the radio blackout album? There is some high quality minimal techno with neat atmospherics and syncopations. Highly suggested.

yeah, i have most (probably everything) of his (electronica) stuff. saw him live couple of times as well. seems to be leaving out subtleness more on every new album. the new one is completly boring i thought.
bob, never heard of Air Liquide and Jammin' Unit.
