ICARUS-I Tweet The Birdy Electric
A great mix between IDM, Experimental and Ambient. I'm
getting this one on vinyl round the weekend.

cannot bring myself to check any of them

why most of the netlabels never have a link to download the
whole album just in one file???

A lot of the stuff seems pretty amateur. It would be great
if somene could seperate the wheat from the chaff.

There is just as much garbage that somehow gets signed. How
do you seperate that wheat and chaff? It gets seperated
because no one buys the albums and the labels drop them, or
it doesn't because there are a lot of people that like trite
and easy crap. No point I guess except that it is more
complicated than label vs DIY. Labels have more clout
because that is the way it's been done since music hit the
modern era. Unsigned bands were local bands and national
acts were considered better or more important. Not
anymore.. the internets are changing all that.

Esem - Scateren

Free Audio

"I have mixed feelings towards the recording industry at
this point. I do not particularly agree to the model and I
do not exactly like the patterns. Go grab a Nano and hold
it. Feel how things are becoming obsolete, much quicker than
one can handle. I was offered to have these commercially
released, but that is not something I would now be happy
with.

Then there's the music vs money issue. Well I did not
conceive the music with money in mind so why should you pay
for it anyway? I, like you, enjoy a good freebie. So here`s
your treat. Grab Scateren, spread it, make a CD for your car
and friends. (Don't charge or you will burn in hell.)

Plus, this way it will never run out of stock. It will never
get dusty on your shelf. Or if you make and lose a CD, you
can always recreate it from the files. And last, I don't
think I kept the originals anyway. So, if you feel you're
stuck with compressed audio, then tough. "

I like his perspective.

I like it sort of. I have free stuff up and so do a lot of
people I know, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't at some
point want to sell my stuff. This is simply because I want
my music to be my full time job so I can quit the one I am
at now. Life requires an income and half the time my
current job has me so burned out that when I get home I
don't feel like working on music. I don't need to get rich
or anything, just make what I am making right now at my job
but making doing music.

It would be great for you if it's possible to have enough
income of the music you are producing to quit your current
job. Although this is very hard in the electronic genre.

If you are talented enough I'm sure you'll find a way to
succeed.

I rarely bother to check out netlabels, but Marsen Jules
has released two gorgeous "classical ambient" albums as free
MP3 downloads at Autoplate.
