I used to love it, now i'm disillusioned.
It only gets you down to think about "why". It's an exciting prospect at first, and a fun conversation point, but it can ruin any confidence you have in yourself or the world around you.
My favorite is now Empiricus. Just enjoy the simple pleasures in life, and treat yourself as a free-willed concious being (even if such things are illusions)...Delusion is joy. Drinking coffee on a sunny day, speaking with friends, and walking about in a part. It's all that matters; it works!

man 4 yours ive been studying philosophy. you really ahve to detach from it and realise you'll study some real mental shit but the stuff thats ignore dis usually the practical stuff.
i got REALLY dissilsioned with it, in the infinite regress of questioning and then i read some Satre decided he was a cunt and hated him forgot about it and then later sused that in actual fact i loved him cos hes very practical and i discovered i like alot of contnental stuff i just bought being and time by heidegger today.
also beothius consolation of philosophy is awsome
"mutability is our tragedy but its also our hope, the worst of times, like the best, are always passing away"
also quoted in 24 hour party people and a idm track (i think by modeselektor but i cant rmeebr where i heard it)
anyhow my socks smell of piss

If it was just the spelling I'd agree, but you can't convey a single coherent thought. If you type badly, take your time, think about what you're going to say, make the effort to type properly and maybe your point will come out clearer. It shows respect for the people that are going to read what you write.
However, if you know no one's going to be remotely bothered because it's just the same old fucking bollocks, I'd suggest, rather than flapping away at your keyboard like some demented shelf stacker, you didn't post at all.

However do bare in mind, you know nothing about me really and so you should care even less than i do.

I guess I hoped for truth but I discovered you cannot logically find it. You just have to have faith in something, and hope for the best. Some things are more likely than others, but there are no definates.

philosophy is a great thing to study if you lack even the
most basic capacity to think for yourself or have a creative
idea of your own.
Philosophy is, indeed, somewhat restricting in a creative sense. However I think you need to have to be very free minded and creative if you wish to do well. You study arguements and criticism that ahve come and gone before but when im taught things, im taught the arguement for ita nd then i ahve to go see if it holds, or if i beleieve it.
Yes, theres alot of "you say this" and "I say that" but i dont think that denotes anybody lacking any originality of thought.
The other day i managed to stump a lecturer who had written books on the very subject we were talking about. it felt good even if it was somewhat of a mentally elitist manner.
Theres a paper by thomas nagel called "what it is to be a bat" and iv never read something that generated so many ideas in my head about the nature of science and so on and so fourth (with details that would prolly bore someone not interested in philosophy.
I dont think i can think of many areas apart form the arts that encourage creativity and free thinking to me it seems its more about building up teh wall before you knock it down, but then i suppose im contradicting myself here.
i dont know, ill grab a coffe and see if i ahve a clearer head!

Come to think of it, it isn't being a "drone" to come to the conclusion that what you believe is ultimately an act of faith into what looks *most likely* to you. I've read theory after theory, and they all have elements of sense and they all have their own flaws. There isn't a big metaphysical sign in the sky proclaiming, "this is correct", and ideas within epistemology and ethics aren't as clear cut or as "pure" as mathetmatical concepts, so it is an ultimate act of faith to believe anything-even the existence of an external world, or the fact that you are actually truly "thinking" about anything at all. Looking into other's theories helps you in your own pursuit of truth, because you can affirm what you've always believed anyway, remove aspects of your beliefs that don't cut it against past sceptics, and combine others' ideas with your own to get that little bit closer to something affirmative and consistent.
