Check this shit out!!! Stick around for the Lemur demo at the end of the video. Shit, when Autechre give up their new hardware fetish and start rocking this shit into their post-gnarly Max patches again, we're gonna have a whole new level of mind fuckery.

Interesting...sounded a bit scrappy though, you might get away with it in a live environment but it certainly wouldn't be much good for studio albums and when all is said and done offers very little new anyway.

heh, why buy the bells when you can just synthesize them and control them with sponges and coughmedicine cups? Mind you everything we heard was through compressed video... I'm sure if they can write algorithms to copy bells, they have their own special tricks for making dope quality audio too.

New ways of interfacing with instruments are very exciting in my opinion, I believe(hope) a lot of artists will move into this kind of area where electronic music is played/performed by the artist kind of like playing a guitar, which adds a whole new layer of skill and depth to making electronic music.
It would also allow for very organic swings and humanized stuff instead of the gridbased music that's been made up to now. Hopefully we could be facing some kind of shift in electronic music paradigm soon enough, kind of an evolution really.
Imagine how the music today could have been if they didn't decide to use a keyboard to control the first synths, if they had decided on a different way it would have made a huge impact on the world really.

it's not like other orm dont exist... the first "synth" were controlled not at all by keyboards, but well... comercial succes made everything that made sounds have a keyboard so you could sell it to novices

Why have a real girlfriend when you can buy a RealDoll? I'm pretty sure they're in the same price range as a Lemur. And watching some guy play with the realdoll wouldn't be that much more boring and aesthetically repulsive than watching him play with a Lemur.

it's amazing how closed minded ya'll are. these are instruments, ie, tools that offer an extensive variety of ways with which to express oneself and convey something meaningful to other people.
my guess is that if aphex was operating that thing you'd all be masturbating to the video while talking about how he's a genius. and, if the thing was $50 there would be loads of tracks on here by you all begging us to listen to your kick ass, innovative new tunes composed with ground breaking instruments.
it's like you are dissing a keyboard "yeah, lame, apply pressure to a piece of plastic and sound emerges, how un-musical." (there were similar nay-sayers when the piano was introduced) and besides, bob moog, who invented the synthesizer, was very reluctant to make it controlable via keyboard and throughout his life often wondered how different music would have been had he applied a different interface.
it's really a shame to see people on an electronic music forum discrediting new/alternative ways to create music. it's also exceptionally ironic.

Heh, the reason I ask is because the lemur-team stated that one of the things that made the lemur so special was the fact that it had a "polytouch" technology as opposed to its counter-products.
And it did not say anything about that kind of support on the Open Labs interface featurelist, hence I asked Taxidermist who claims he's done in-depth research on the subject.
