the only monitors I've ever owned are a pair of self-powered m-audio studiophile bx-8s. So I don't have much knowledge of passive monitors, but I'm pretty suce that alesis + alesis is a damn fine combination.

personally i'd advise getting active monitors. if not then go to a well stocked music/hi-fi shop and try out different combinations of amps and speakers. don't let them tell you what's good or bad.

well i need aamplifier just to connect other devices, turntables and stuff. and i dont want to get into active monitors + amplifier and typical hi-fi. that would be too much. thus im looking for passive ones + good amp. its just the question about that specific combination as i looked for them already and that one seems good from"website" point of view.

My uncle has a studio and for as long as I can remember he has been using Yamaha NS10s. They sound pretty ace, but they have been discontinued for some years now I think, but you you could probably score some 2nd hand ones.

Ns10s are pretty well known as industry standard-ish. you can actually buy them in parts, but not as a whole unit.
