you've gone skinny all alone in new york city
it's okay
spread the peanut butter thick
you're back home
sleep till noon and listen to the shape shifters revolve
on your way to the library to borrow foreign movies

did they teach you french in new york?
did you learn to shave your face close with dial soap and a
steak knife?
or slickly wipe a sweat palm on your pants style before
shaking hands firmly with the shadiest show promoter?

i know it's hard for a single person to fold queen size bed
sheets
you left your Reds hat in the back seat of moms volvo
i know it's hard for a single person to fold queen size bed
sheets
your left your Reds hat in the back seat of the volvo

she wanted to have it cast in bronze and put on display
next to your babies shoes and your first buckle
next to the tv in the den

i knew you'd be back to eat up all the peanut butter
bumpers
to jerk of to the magazines from jc penny's.

i knew you'd come back
i knew you'd come back

to go back to school or get a job at the downtown library
the health food store
penning apartments for a opening to work at the cigar kioske
in kenwood mall

just make sure you get out of here by december
go to california go to hawaii

cincinatti sucks in the winter
you know that like the bump on the back of your neck
it sucks the leaves from the trees
and by the time the snow is melting they always find 4 or 5
more bodies hanging from dumps on the train tressels
over an empty parking lot
stink and staining what's left of the snow to cherry
slushies

all beautiful places are prone to natural disaster
but beeing swallowed by the earth in manilla
beats a slow death in the midwest.

-why?

i think i got the lyricfs right. not sure it's hard to
understand him.

anyways great song. i think it's called "broken crow."
download it.

I did a little write-up about the lyrics to this song for a
class, development of the adolescent.

Midwest = home, so back the fuck off. :D

To those of you that haven't visited, don't make a special
trip or anything, but please realize that just because it's
not NY or LA, that doesn't mean it's boring or uneventful,
we just have to be a little more creative to get our kicks.

Where do you live Mimi?

I think people call anything that is not on the coasts and
what they consider to be 'hick town' the midwest.

I live in Madison, WI. I wouldn't really call it rural, but
I guess there is farmland a short drive away.

The midwest is my home too. Kind of. Colorado/Iowa. I'm
moving back to Iowa soon. And yeah, Lawrence Kansas can be
excellent.

I always seem to see lawrence, ks listed on tour date lists
for bands, so it would seem there are plenty of shows to go
to there. strange, as I never hear anything about the town
otherwise.

Lawrence is where KU is located and yes they have some
pretty cool venues.

Columbia, Missouri is a good place for concerts as well,
especially the Blue Note. I saw Godspeed! there, woooot.

YESSSSS!!!! A MAJOR PLACE FOR BANDS! I go to shows there
with a friend very often. I think the last one was Reel Big
Fish. Then we saw The Faint in Omaha once. Then the White
Stripes were in Lawrence a while back too.
