i think the smurfs aren't broadcasted anymore i think and that's why this travesty came to be, i wonder wether they even consulted the makers of the series

Yes they did consult them. It's appealing to adults that watched the series as kids, not to kids today. And what's meant to be shocking is that children are invovled in wars, not the fact that some fictional blue characters are depicted being bombed.

the makers did it i thought! hence it only being aired in blgium where the smurfen came from
also i imagine it was on late at night so kids didnt see it but i dont know
