BoC - wire interview

offline KEYFUMBLER from DUBLIN (Ireland) on 2005-09-26 07:09 [#01734191]

Great little interview in the Wire with BoC and it was
facinating to read about their interest in the practices of
japanese yamabushi monks. These guys are known to use
mystical finger-weaving pattern to establish affirmative
trains of thought. Similar ideas are found in the martial
art i study as there is a connection to the yamabusi in that
too. What a suprise to read that BoC were into it....

their aim is to be in the 'middle of the road' section in
Virgin. I'm thoroughly dissapointed. Lame

man, as much as i like their earlier stuff i can't help but
to think they sold out. as i finally read the interview i
can understand they need money in order to move to hong kong
and new zealand :)

i hope they start making proper music again once they sort
out their private life. we don't need another fcuking
royksopp.

yer a bit harsh tolstoyed.... i think the 3 CH tacks i've
heard so far are perfectly in line with the musical
standards that BoC have taken before. Sure their interviews
show them as being a little bit too media-concious but the
music does it for me and is quintissential BoC i reckon.

look at the rest .... ae, afx and squarepusher have all gone
down slightly different paths while keeping their musical
integrety so far. Its a fluid medium, this music .... if you
remain static against it you get disappointed. Go with the
flow dude!

it's just a bit to obvious in the boc case imo. i still
haven't heard the whole album mind. hell, i might even
download it, get stoned and see what happens. but so far im
really disappointed.

i agree with tolstoyed. oscar red eye is a nice track; there
a few other nice, polite, pleasant tracks. overall
the album doesn't do much for me.

tolstoyed, seriously, listen to the whole album first....
it's like old old tunes boc stuff with fatter sounds, i.e.
lovely. better than geogaddi and more re-listenable than
MHTRTC. don't just join the kneejerks for the sake of it.

actually, i decided to download this and have heard first 9
songs so far. appart from the first minute of 'cromakey
dreamcoat' nothing impressed me. but that song is nice, i'll
give them that..especially the begining.
