i dont know if this is true or not

more often than not while i am making beats , i
involuntarily compare the quality of them to those of my
favorites. thereby increasing (to me) the quality of the
beats and sounds. im less satisfied with crap beats and wack
sounds.

is this true for you?

i think it helps... i mean its just influences really isnt
it...

i'm trying to make acoustic band music with minimal
programming... but i get home and listen to autechre, so my
brand of pop music is probably slightly wrong in a pop
sense, but maybe thats for the best..

oh god, yes. it's natural to want to emulate something you
enjoy or admire.

having a good ear for music will help you in making music,
yes.

but wait a minute.. what if the music you listen to and
think is good music, is in actuality.. really SHIT
music...!

uh-oh..

i don't believe there is really a correlation between the
music you listen to and the music you make. some of my
favorite artists were influenced by terrible, terrible
music.
