cool. so i bought myself a brand new compaq laptop nx 6110.
but i somehow wanted to use my old pc hard drive (80g) so i
decided to buy myself a welland external combo drive where
you can put your hdd in and connect it via firewire.

80 gigs on firewire? sounds neat huh?

neat until 3 hours ago.

i decided to make some music on ableton live, which was on
my external hard drive. my computer crashed, i restarted it
and suddenly there is no way of entering one of my
partitions on it.

the fun part is: this 15 gig partition contains my WHOLE
musical software. every sample, flp file, synth, track is on
it.
3 FUCKIN YEARS OF WORK.

LOST.

now i have to find someone who recovers disks. i will pay
him even 500 dollars if he could just give me my files
back....

fuck

not until they are made by humans...

maybe the second generation - computers made by computers
will work better.

are you sure your browser is not having a glitch?

do you have a virus sitting in there?

do you have system recovery?

wish i could help... but i don't know... sorry. :(

if the partition is not visible it could mean that the
partition table on disk is gone. This should be possible to
restore by hand, of course if you know what you're doing.
Find a good specialist and also, you can make a 1:1 hardware
copy from disk, there are some software for doing this.
Otherwise, the restoring process may destroy all data beyond
any hope.
Good luck !

dude, as the other guy said

before you try anything, even things that claim
they're "nondestructive"

take a 1:1 clone of the hard drive. not just the files; the
actual data on the drive, used or not. do the recovery on
the copy, not the original.

a lot of these automated programs do more damage than help.

Maybe the MFT table got corrupted. It happened to me once.
There were these two commands in the recovery mode dealing
with such problems, but I forgot what they were. One of them
certainly had "BOOT" in it. The other one copied the
backed-up MFT table from the center or the end of the disk.
But I urge you to try BetDataBack. I heard only good things
about it.

hm.... the ontrack soft was utter shit - nothing worked.

i know use the getdataback software - and i can already see
some of the filenames back... that would be so great !!
