The trailer is shitty because it doesn't show off any games.

The first time I saw it, I was shocked !
Nintendo is da BOMB
They really have the guts to do this risky thing. I´m glad
they did. I hope they will have alot adult games instead of
mario party part 234

"we'll be playing traditional games with this in familiar
ways"

I truly hope you're wrong about this. The diffrence in
processing power between revolution and the other systems
already makes portability a pain in the ass. This controller
design is just the nail in the coffin. I suppose you could
use the controller for a fighter or FPS but I can't imagine
how exactly.

You are right about game design. Time for something else
besides Zelda and Mario.

i imagine myself playing a nes or snes (or gamecube, ps2,
xbox whatever) while like lazing around on my couch.
and then i picture me leaning back feat on table (in the
kinda position where my feet are in the way!) and i just
cant picture me waving that thing around!
it is pretty revolutionary (not if its a complete failure
though, like, who here thinks the virtual boy was
revolutionary :D ) but yeah, it is revolutionay, but i think
im just too old school for this shit. (or lazy, im not sure)

Chill out, you haven't even laid your hands on it yet.

Supposedly it's very sensitive, so you won't have to wave it
around like a lunatic.

"I'm disappointed with Nintendo, it looks like I'll be
getting a PS3 instead."

Better save up then. With a fancy schmancy blu-ray drive and
HDTV support it's going to cost MEGA bucks. The blu-ray
drive alone is said to make up over $100 over the cost
price. So either this will be compensated by selling a $500
console or they'll sell it for less than the cost price and
make the games $80 or so each. No PS3 here in both
scenarios.

I'm not against the idea of branching out into new
controller designs, but for christ's sake I wish they'd give
us stubborn old schoolers a regular controller to use while
everyone else is flailing like a fish trying to play with a
glorified TV-remote control. It just seems kind of gimmicky
to me. Who knows though, maybe it'll be really fun to use.

i hope you can use regular GC controllers yes. but will
every game work with it? not sure...

by the way if it's very sensitive it might be a bit annoying
- just imagine: you've got flu. when you cough, you can't
help but shiver a little... so you'll play bad because you
can't aim well. o_O

Also, of course not every game will work with the GC
controller! This console is moving in a very special
direction, so it's bound to use the new controller!

The more I think about this, the less I like it. Also,
they're introducing some sort of adapter to play games more
traditionally. Another reason why I think we'll be playing
traditional games in familiar ways. This isn't going to
change gaming, it's just going to slightly alter the way we
control our characters. Which I think isn't a big thing,
personally.

Do you work for nintendo? You come across as overly
defensive in this thread. Look at the crap that nintendo
gets away with. Its amazing they are still going.

They games they put out are a large percentage of crap. Sure
they have a few gems but thats it. There is this weird cult
of old timers that just wont let go. Nintendo is cursed.
Look at this god awful controller.

"zomg use gamecube"

No. You shouldnt have to use dated hardware to properly
enjoy gaming. Nintendo is dropping the ball on this one and
instead of admitting it you are sitting in your house
waiting for katrina to take a shit on New Orleans. Well we
all know what happened to those people.

Moving along the only thing bad about PS3 is the initial
price tag. End of story. Xbox360 gets a much needed head
start.

Shit i dont even play video games and i can point this out.
To make a proper decision people need to drop the "fanboy"
crap and take a long hard at what is happening here.

The fact that you need to say "you can use gamecube
controllers" and "download old nintendo games" shows that
too much rely on its past and that its future looks bleak. I
havent heard anything remotely like that with the other two
systems. Nintendo sales overall when compaired to sony and
xbox should show the future that nintendo has. Another
flawed beginning would seriously hurt them as a company.

Sony delivers more and better games, and now they're
delivering the best hardware. I guess you get what you pay
for.

Actually Nintendo has had relatively better sales than Sony
and Microsoft. That's because both have sold their machines
below cost price, expecting the games sales to compensate
for that. Sadly they weren't smart enough to come up with a
decent measure against game piracy and everyone modded their
console to play copied games. Needless to say that is the
reason why both got so popular, at the cost of their
turnover.

Just some trivia for ya :)

Large percentage is crap? I admit that their Mascots are
tired but that's it. Their production values, gameplay
control and overall presentation is still top notch for
almost all of their in house titles. I'm hoping Nintendo
makes due on their promise to provide original games you
can't play anywhere else. I'm also hoping that third parties
will treat Revolution as an entirely diffrent market and
provide original content, not rehashed ports. I don't want
to play fucking traditional titles on this system. That's
what the other two are for. There's no point in limiting
your gaming experience to one system if you've got the ends
to get both. However, if you're just a broke ass sucker I'd
start saving for PS3 and pretend Revolution and 360 don't
exist.

Not a fanboy, but I think the Revolution design is getting
undeserved amounts of shit from people who haven't even
given it a chance yet (tried it). Not that I have either,
but it's kinda pointless to slag it off without even having
tried it out or at least seeing the fucking games. I prefer
the Xbox this generation to the Gamecube which quite frankly
sucks cocks with the exception of having a few nice
exclusives. And the Gamecube controller isn't really dated,
because it basically looks like any nextgen controller (with
the exception of the Revolution's, of course), although it's
sad that you have to buy an old controller to exploit some
facets of the hardware. I'm buying an Xbox360 this christmas
and possibly even a PS3 if it's somewhat reasonably priced
and gets more interesting exclusives (Katamari Damacy!), but
I still want the Revolution to succeed, because to me it
provides something others can't offer and it takes risks
without going totally mental in that Virtual Boy kind of
way. I quite enjoy the Nintendo DS' take on gaming after a
lot of initial skepsis, so I figure I'll give the Revolution
a chance as well.

I'll agree with you there. i would like to see nintendo
succeed. They started this IMO. I mean sure you had atari
but there was just something about the NES. There still is.

Nintendo has potential but they need to stop fucking around
with this gimmick crap and start being more original like
that one game they have out.... (eternal darkness? that was
cool)

----

But seriously..... GTA4 on ps3? We might as well buy sextoys
and start fucking ourselves unless howser fucks up (wont).
Halo 3 has got me interested aswell as this new metalgear. I
hope my brother buys one.

I dont buy systems. Not enough time but i do like to jam on
some games every now and again.

I disagree... but you knew that ;-)

Killzone
Ratchet and Clank
Gran Turismo
Sly Cooper
Jak
God of War
ICO/Colossus

All THREE (!) of their platformer series' (which adds up to
like 12-13 AAA platformers) are better than Mario Sunshine,
and Wanda should be at least a match for modern-day
predictable Zelda. God of War is about as good as either
Metroid Prime. Nintendo has nothing of Gran Turismo's
quality, and Geist is their only FPS, and that's clearly not
at Killzone 2's level. Add in stuff like Socom, Siren, Dark
Cloud, Twisted Metal, Wild Arms, Syphon Filter, and that
more than compares to Nintendo's. It also targets more
demographics.

And you can't just disregard third party, I mean, that's
what wins these wars. Whoever makes better business
decisions wins, and then the people that buy their system
wins.

I agree. I think I'm missing the point and not being
imaginative enough. I think the new controller is going to
interesting even though I can't really fathom it right.

I'm worried about Nintendo, but it has nothing to do with

By the way, Killzone 2 was not rendered in realtime. It ran
at 4 fps on PS3 alpha kits.

I'm sure they'll be able to make something akin to Killzone
2's graphics when they learn the PS3's hardware in and out,
but I figure it's gonna take quite a while. Possibly a whole
new generation until it happens. Multithreaded code :\

Have you seen Killzone for PS2? It's a pretty remarkable
technical and artistic achievement considering what hardware
it was running on. Regardless of whether or not the E3
Killzone video was legit, Guerilla are very talented,
they'll put out something good and it will LOOK good, too.
The only thing that held Killzone 1 back was the weakass PS2
hardware.

It looks absolutely stunning for being a PS2 game, granted,
although the gameplay was very "been there, done that". I'm
hoping we'll see shit like Killzone 2 soon, because that's
what I thought the next generation would really look like.
Instead I'm sort of disappointed at the graphics I'm seeing
for the upcoming games, excluding a few like Oblivion, Gears
of War and Call of Duty 2 (because of the ridiculously hot
animation). Actually, what I'm more excited about for the
coming generation is the AI. I'm hearing promising stuff
about a few upcoming titles, and CoD2 is supposed to
dedicate an entire Xbox360 core to its AI. Christ.

Yet those terrific in house and 2nd party titles are still a
tiny fraction in comparison with their overall library. As
far as Nindendo/Sony game comparisons, that might be a
matter of taste. I have no interest in Jak, Sly, and Rachet
series and God of War is really incomparable to Metroid. In
the end, though, I can afford to own both systems now and in
the future so I will simply enjoy the games exclusive to
both. I really don't think that one company is superior to
another.

Can you imagaine what Shadows of Colossus would look like on

I can't wait for Oblivion.

The AI thing is interesting, but I guess I'm kind of
shallow... what I want most are better-looking, more
immersive environments and game universes. And better
storyteling. I don't really play games for challenge
anymore, I do it for the art... I want to hear the music and
see the sights and experience the story. I don't try to
break records or earn cheats or refine my skills. That's
just how I am. *shrug

I suppose the AI thing will help with the immersiveness
though, so that can only be a good thing. And of course I'm
not JUST in it for the art... but that's what I'm most
looking forward to. That and the super high resolutions.

Mertens- very true, taste plays into it. You might not have
interest in the platformers, but a looooooottt of people do,
those games are brilliant. I don't have interest in Animal
Crossing or Pikmin, but I have to admit, those are two of
Nintendo's triumphs this gen.
