who here doesnt think drukqs in ultimate

ive heard abit of other stuff, but nothing has been as
awesome as drukqs. who here doesnt think drukqs is ultimate,
when it comes to like production and progamming that went
into the songs. the sounds and drums on this the best.
if u dont think so then what is better.

This album is very well produced, for sure.
But I prefer the RDJ album !

It is probably the most effort he has put into any of his
albums. In terms of range and diversity, as well as
complexion of particular songs. It is a timeless beauty.

I cant help but think there was a lot less manual labour put
into Confield. And for me the results show, but that's just
my stupid opinion.

no album is as textured, brilliantly dynamic or plain
enjoyable as drukqs. best electronic album for sure.

druqks is too uneven for me to consider it "the best", the
production is stunning for sure, but Confield and Tri
Repetae are better (if we take only IDM into consideration)

I agree with _gvarek_.... i thinks its uneven too and so
listen to nearly all pf RDJ's other stuff more. I think
drukqs tracks work much better in mixes than in context of
the album they're on.

also, RDJ is consistantly great at programming/production so
i don't see drukq as standing out. As for complexity.... on
its own it's insignifiicent... i sorta think autechre and
squarepousher do "complexity" better. By complexity i mean
the degree to which you get into a song over time or its
un-ravel-ability.

there is some real crap on drukqs. I and probably many
others think this could have been a magnificent single disc
(lets say 75 minutes) release.

lol, by drukqs i meant... um, my version of drukqs : )
Vordhosbn. Omgyjya Switch7. Bbydhyonchord. Cock/Ver10. Mt
Saint Michel Mix+St Michaels Mount. 54 Cymru Beats.
Meltphace 6. Taking Control. Afx237 V7. Ziggomatic V17.
this is what i listen to (ive also got a cd with flow coma,
box energy, mangle 11 and run the place red remix, but we're
talking about drukqs here).
everytime i listen to this its just awesome and amazing.
nothing that i know of comes close to the awesomeness of
this. (unless of course, you know of something as awesome
and owuld like to shed some light : ) ).

they fit in really well.

I mean, I like drukqs, but i feel people are more into the
technical mastery when they say they like it. And it is
technically masterful. Lot's of sounds changing and
morphing. It would definetly crah my computery. He must have
been using a nord or something. Maybe a Kyma.

i would have prefered a single-cd drukQs instead of the
double-cd it is... i don't think double albums are too much
to take in one listen usually, there are plenty of double
albums i love, but drukQs is too much to take -
mostly because of the drill'n'bass tracks.

and now i still love the piano tracks but i've become bored
of the drill'n'bass ones (which even sound somewhat annoying
to me now). it's been a while since i've listened to it.
maybe years.

haha
you say the album is ultimate, but instead of listening to
it "properly" you listen to your own compilation of tracks
from it?

come on... ^^
you've lost almost all credibility with this post.

I feel part of Drukq's brilliance is the fact it IS a 2CD
album. The variations between drill and slower/ambient
tracks just makes the songs emphasize each other much more.
It works wonderfully! :)

i didn't mean that exactly, sorry : )

just that listening the two discs in a row really doesn't
make it for me, too much to digest.

(the best track of the album is in my opinion meltphace6,
which is on the second disc - even if all in all i prefer
disc 1 to disc 2)

it. a single disc release of drukqs wouldve been much more

ultravisitor is also and example oif hard/soft mixtures and
i think it works far better so na na na na-na...

drukqs is too stecato-ish for me.... the beats are too
broken for my taste. I prefer rolling drill sounds like
(HAB) rather than harsh, cut-off ones.. Love the piano and
noise tracks though and st. micheals mount - love that.

it's far from being the ultimate, even in aphex terms. to me
it sounds like a gimmick album, the tracks are all good and
fun, but it's not really an album, sounds more like he
opened a folder, dragged and dropped them onto a cd and sent
them off to warp. wasn't this some deal closer album?

i hardly listen to it anymore. if it was a game, i'd give
the lastability 3/5.

The album is a bit of a haphazard grabbag of tunes, but it
totally works, they don't feel like afterthoughts (except
for maybe Orban and another tune or two). It was a pretty
rewarding experience getting to know the songs, lots of
hooks to dig up. It was my favorite electronic album ever
for a couple of years and I still dig it. It's my favorite
James joint but I don't think it's his quintessential album
or anything like that, or even an important album. And it's
not really a step-forward or sideways or back, it's like a
crazy tap-dance to and fro.

thinktoys remix does a good job of reducing the album into a
nifty digestable slab of aphex for me. Rarely listen to the
thing in one sitting myself but do tinker with individual
trackspeeds at home in da mix...

it's penultimate imo, though it doesn't contain a good
representation of all rdj's work

idont know whats wrong with two cd's, more cd's=more
listening fun (to me that is). I like all the tracks,
technically and just simply they way they sound, don't
prefer the drillnbass tracks over the rest, i like the two
"joke tracks", i simple love Drukqs.
Tastes are really different :) (and thank god they are...)

drukqs is undboutedly the ultimate album aphex has ever
released...for me. don't get me wrong i dont mean to piss
over all of his other work but this one combines great
melody and drum programing. i could do with out the odd
little clips i liked some of the piano works....either way.
i know there are people that dislike it for some reasons or
other. everything has short comings though, think of your
favorite album. i'm sure that it sounds perfect to you, but
to me it could be riddled with lots of flaws production
wise. i'm really foaming at the mouth for some more of this
style of aphex. fenix funk sure did give me more of that as
well as the b-side...and a few other tracks from analord.
but i really really dig what aphex did on this album and i
really can't wait for his next mental venture.

Greatest album of all time. There are plenty of other
timeless RDJ albums and melodies, but this was like "the
retirement" album. He should have just disappeared
completely after releasing this.

I can't even imagine how much time went into the drill
tracks ...

btw, bbylo sounds really smooth slowed down

good track to chill out to ... nice tune
