you say that about everything Snares produces.
you are about as trustworthy at reviewing Snares as I would be.

By far his most departing and successful album IMHO. Actually, one of the best of 2004.

It's too unique i've heared some more people say that all the tracks are Autechre - Acroyear ripoffs. I think some review i found on the snares forum said the same

Autechre is the most obvious of them all.
I know Syndrone comes close, but that's about it...

its an acroyear rip off because all snares is doing is fucking around with FM synthesis in the most primitive and uninteresting way.
what autechre does is actually use minute frequencey shifts when using their FM/nord modular work in a subtle but distinctive way. certain sounds morph into different sounds and back again. tones become drums and vice versa.
this creates very unique timbres that rarely get exercised properly in IDM.
all venetian snares is doing is opening up reaktor and fucking about with a few FM synths and then loading the samples once again into a slicer.
there havent been many artists who have used a lot of ring modulated FM synthesis on their albums--most idm albums for some reason rely on either
a] stuttery breakbeats and filtering with ignorable melodies or
b] fuzzy and crunchy 'lo fi' glitch idm with ignorable melodies
autechre - lp5 is the best example of how rich and dynamic it can sound.
autechre - stop look listen, is a sure bet
there have been a few tracks by EOG that have rivaled it. a few things ive heard by xingu hill have managed to do it nicely. a lot of electro touches it breifly but has trouble progressing anything beyond the confines of electro, which are mainly boring stock drums. some of its pretty cracking though.
