Porrn Crrackdown

Campaigners have long argued for violent pornographic
sites to be shut down, chief among them Liz Longhurst whose
daughter Jane was killed two years ago by a man obsessed
with violent internet sexual pornography.

Maybe watching so much porrn stopped him killing soonerr to
fulfil his sexual desirres.

Come on, the porrn didn't make him kill that woman in any
shape orr forrm.

What is the necessary criteria for a porn site to be labeled
"violent"?

Necrophilia? Auto-erotic asphyxiation, rape, physical
assaults, paedophilia - that's the kind of thing they're
talking about in this instance.

Neverr vistied one, don't make this perrsonal. I don't have
to want to ban something just because I don't like it.
I don't like crricket, it's fucking shit, but I don't think
it should be banned.

And I rrefuse to listing to anyone who wants to speak forr
the women in these videos... interrview them on ITV.

Is violence something that causes ACTUAL pain to the
women... orr the depiction of pain... in that case we'll
have to ban everry action movie going.

curiosity doesn't necessarily mean your perveted. Porn
is/was such a taboo that it inadvertently raises
inquisitivness. If you don't like somthing you don't always
ignore it, you somtimes try to get more info around the
subject.

I see what you mean. But violent porn is pretty different to
cricket - although I have no interest in either.
I think when it comes to material like this you can't always
assume that everyone will make the same intellectual
response to the site as you.
Everyone has their own definition of perversion - but if I
think that even most liberal people would consider the
content of these sites as such.
If depictions of violence and abuse (real or otherwise) have
no artistic merit, and are intended to provoke no other
response than to gratify by fuelling fantasies, then I can
understand why many intelligent, open-minded people choose
to deem it obscene.

someone says that perhaps these sites are not the reason
this individual went insane and killed this poor girl,
perhaps that this man had something wrong with him and him
watching these sites was just a symptom and you take that to
mean that that someone is all for those sites.

this baffles me - how do you even do that, make those steps
in your head?

Little MPs?

Was that intended for me?

I was only expressing my take on the subject.

That I can understand why some people want these
sites banned. But I did also say I can see your point of
view.

Personally I haven't made my mind up about this subject yet
- it's a tricky one.

Again... these sites exist because people want to see it...

I don't want any woman to actually get hurrt (forr the
rrecorrd I'm speaking firrst perrson because it's easierr),
but is it wrrong to want to see herr prretend to get hurrt?
In the same way I don't want to see a man actually get
torrturred I do sometimes want to watch sick horrrrorr
films? Why because you'rre wanking overr one and not wanking
overr the otherr, does it make it wrrong?

The rreason that these videos may be made illegal is because
therre arre not enough people who like them to stop it frrom
happening. It's a niche marrket that, yeah, makes most
people sick, but SO what. It's too easy to make it the bad
guy and make it look like something is being done,
banning people frrom having these videos on theirr
computerrs will achieve nothing. It won't solve any
prroblem forr the simple rreason... that therre is NO
prroblem to solve.

Again I take your point. But I'm not comfortable assuming
that everyone's intellectual and emotional response to the
material would be the same. It's inevitable that some people
out there want to see a woman actually get hurt, and so
watch one pretend to get hurt because it's the next best
thing. I just think it touches on a very grey area of
morality.

if you ban the porn industry it will no doubt find a new way
to rear his (objectivly) ugly head. It's like drugs, you can
ban them but that isn't going to stop it happening.

the same stimuli may give different reactions depening on
who receives them...

in my opinion, just like the same pornography can be
exciting for some people and revolting to some others,
violent pornography can act as a vent for some people, and
as a "catalyser" (or/and even a source of "inspiration") it
can even act as both at the same time.

it's never that simple.

(also, i'm damn sure some porn actors do get hurt for
real sometimes... even if it's been their choice to become
porn actors.)
