no is the answer,

and anus i wasn't putting murderers and pervets in the same
boat i was merely using that as an extreme example to get my
point across which is you can't have it both ways, you can't
call banning porn an infringment of rights when violence is
involved. By watching porn you are fuelling the violence and
so are indirectly involved in the whole process.

so why do you think violent action films are not banned?

there are plenty of films which involve people being
shot/killed/maimed/etc...

ah but violent porn isn't banned yet, is it?

you've also opened a whole new area for debate. Is a
historical war film warrant of a violence ban. If yes, then
do we take it as far as forgetting World War two never
happened.

Don't let that post make you angry. I wasn't saying that's
how I see things - just that that's the way it seems
to be as far as a lot of people are concerned.

Most pornography is depressing because it depicts human
beings as strictly-sex robots. Sex is firstly seen as some
sort of intimate experience, and the type of people who need
(or, I suppose, want) exposure to typical pornographic
'entertainment' on a regular basis are probably in need of
actual intimacy themselves. Also, these people (typically
men) likely don't want to be reminded that because of their
own less-than-ideal traits that entice them to want to watch
porno, they are often treated to the same strict superficial
scrutiny that they have when picking a potential mate, or
fantasy-carrying porno 'star'. So if these people continue
to accept and revel in these artificial forms of intimacy
and passion, they are screwing themselves (over) and are
often habitually wanking away any hope for actual closeness
or need for another human being's mind rather than body.

don't you think it's kind of silly (not to mention
condescending) to lump everybody who likes porn together in
that way?

i'm sure there are some people that like porn and will also
be alone for the rest of their lives, but i really doubt
they're the majority. and even if they are, who are we to
judge them for it? not everybody wants to spend every
waking ounce of energy on luring in a sex partner. you
can't always be intimate with somebody, that's not
realistic. i guess i just don't understand why choosing to
be alone is looked down on.

Maybe if you think in black and white, which I hope you do
not do. Its not the cause, its the reaction. If people
respond to pornography in a negative way, it will have a
negative effect. If they respond to it in a possitive way,
it can have a positive effect, and (my favorite) reacting to
it in neither a negative or a positive way, it will have no
effect whatsoever.

titles.

I wasn't trying to lump anyone who's ever watched porn into
that category, and I wasn't referring to people who 'like'
porn, rather I was referring to the people who feel they
'need' it, the people who watch it regularly as their only
outlet of sexuality. I would think that the majority of
these people would prefer to actually have sex regularly and
see porn as some sort of alternative. I'm sure the reasons
for someone to not have a sex partner are many, but I would
think that for most it's not because they want to be
alone, or can't be hassled with a relationship. I doubt
that there's a person out there who is completely content
with nothing but their friendships and their porn watching
sessions. I think the connection between mates is different
and usually deeper than that between friends, and human
beings naturally need real physical/emotional/mental
interaction with a mate to be truly satisfied. I'm not
saying that it isn't logical for some to give up sex in
order to avoid the responsibilities of a relationship, but
such a sacrifice would probably make watching a simulated
version of what they are missing stir up some negative
emotions and feelings of inadequacy.
I'm not looking down at anyone for being alone, voluntary or
involuntary, but I don't find it logical for some people to
think that it's hopeless for them, and willingly get lost in
some kind of fantasy porn world, when often all they'd have
to do to find real companionship is compromise and/or be a
bit more brave.
I'm not really talking about guys who fetch a tape
occasionally from the attic when the wife/girlfriend is gone
for the weekend.

I don't really see how most people could respond to porn in
a positive way. I mean, it seems to me it's like some
Mcdonalds version of sex or something. It's cash-in,
cum-out, turn the tv off right away and hide the tape
afterwards. To me it doesn't seem to be something most
could learn from or be inspired by (other than to have sex).
The only positive thing about it that I can think of is it
could help arrouse a couple together or something, but most
porn isn't at all intended for that, and I would think that
such a use for it is much more rare.

Because these are her axact words. I don't like her but this

violent porn may sometimes actually end up with the girl
getting hurt, but its already illegal to hurt her.

the same thing happens with real sex, should we ban that
too?
