Kaoss Pad Question

I just bought a KP2, and am wondering from someone else who
uses one: are the stickers safe to mount on the pad? I don't
want the pad to get too worn from my fingernails actually
brushing against it or anything, but I don't want to put the
sticker on it because it make the pad less responive, or
create a wierd pully sensation for the wrong area.

i have one of these.

i put one of the stickers on. it got little bubbles under it
(i tried to do it as smooth as possible) but it doesn't seem
to affect response or anything like that

Cheers ;)

I actually just put one on after asking the question. Its
not too sticky, so you can pull it off without crazy shit
getting all over the pad. What a fun little tool. I have
only had about 10 hours or so of playing with it, but
already, I know this is going to get about as much use as my
sampler, which is my main instrument. It even makes
listening to records funner.

Yeah its an awesome device. I don't use mine as much as I
should because I've been teaching myself how to create the
same effects with my computer software. Brian Eno uses 4 of
them on stage I heard.

my bro has one.
he got bubbles under the first sticker, so he replaced it
with the 2nd one, and then that got a scratch in it, so i
replace it with that sticky stuff u use to cover books
(sorry dont know the word).
all of it seemed easy enough and didnt ruin or break
anything, or leave any sticky marks

You know, creating neat effects with software is easy.

I am kind of converting from software to hardware, and its
giving me trouble, because software makes things so easy.

a nice little tip. you can use the mic input, headphone
output, and the rca cable output on the top to loop sound
and the effects. it really expands the machine and is quite
useful for noise and ambient stuff (but a bit hard to
control, because sometimes it's hard to get the right
volumes)

Can you expand on that a bit more please... do you mean
making a feedback loop using the headphones out going into
the mic in?

sure. i guess i was a little vague. i'll explain how i have
mine set up (which includes a drum machine, and is kind of
vital to the looping)

i have a korg electribe es-1. from the es-1 headphone jack
the audio feeds out into the line in on the kaoss pad.
here's the loop part. the audio feeds out from the headphone
jack on the kaoss pad into the audio in on the es-1. now
this on it's own would create a loop, but you wouldn't be
able to hear it. luckily, there is another audio out (line
out) on the kaoss pad, which i have hooked up to my stereo.
now it's audible. the mic output on the kaoss pad could also
be substituted for the line out.

as far as just looping the kaoss pad without any other
machines, it can't really be done unless you split whatever
input you use on the pad and bring the phones audio back
into the input. sorry if my previous post was a bit
misleading.

here is a little unfinished track using the pitch
shifter on the kaoss pad and the compressor on the es-1

Cheers, I'm going to try something similar with the line in
on my EA-1 (once I get my KP back off my mate). I'll let you
know how I get one.
