last night i and some mates were listening to some music
and stuff, and then i put on untilted. none of them is
really familiar with autechre, but one guy was totally
impressed by it, eventhough he listens to very different
music normally. he started saying about the wicked
transitions and layers and i would never think people would
notice that on the first listen..and to think it took me
ages to get into them..jav

interested. and he never heard of them before..

Oh god, that's great. I Remember a time when i tried to play
a bit of aphex with my friends but nothing to do. They
continued to say "This is music for crazy people! We can't
enjoy this music" I couldn't imagine if i tried to play
autechre, it would have been a thing impossible.

They usually listen electronic music but not like us,
Prodigy Chemical Brothers, Fat Boy Slim etc..
Instead i have been happy because later i played Plaid and
LFO and they enjoyed them.

I hope my friends can do me questions like your friends
Goran! :)

i listen to prodigy and chemical brothers..infact they were
both in my fav acts in early 90's :)
but yes, from my experience italians are totally crazy
about
aphex twin, but not so much about autechre..although that
could be the same as everywhere else. but to see +30.000
people rave to aphex twin is an awesome experience!!

I remember a crazy friend from a while ago, well into crap
house and versace interior. He heard some aphex round my
house and was like "this is a bit crap isn't it? a bit
amateurish."

I remember thinking "yeah" and i've never played crappy
aphex again.

jav....that's a cool story. lately i've been trying to
convert my punk-indie-oldfield-coldwave cousin to autechre,
i made him a mix cd with some fast tracks like "yeesland" or
energetic like "laughing qrter". he liked them. mission
almost complete... :) he also liked the first track from the
2005 geneva live recording, the energy of it.

The guy would wear tight cycling shorts and football
boots, with some posh shirt. He would hang around town
asking people if he could smell their feet or shoes. The man
loved socks.

Angelo is/was perhaps my favourite italian ever.

Yes, here in Italy we can find people crazy for aphex, but
believe me, there are also persons that they don't know him
or quite hate him and his music.

I can imagine the confusion in turin that night :)

BTW: Sometimes i listen some Prodigy and Chemical Brothers,
i like them..

well, it's quite amazing for me to see that many ppl into
him, because overhere i don't even know more that 5 people
that know him..most people have heard of it but think it's a
band or something..i wonder how many ppl would turn up for
his gig if it happened..which never will most likely..
