my short BoCish tune

hi, after the success of my last spam, I made
fnunar quic a little tune with a bit of a BoC vibe
to it (not that intentional) - inspired from the Knightmare
Krew jammix session last night on SLSK..

Shouts out to my fellow KKrew.

direct download from zebox <- not sure if they allow this, I know
there's been problems before.

it sounds like a track i might enjoy with different sounds
and more texture. definitely reminds of boc. and then i
went to lunch.

i love the vocal sample and the melody is lovely
needs just something to thicken it out (not sure what)

i definately liked the different sections, and those 'real'
sounding drums!

maybe it just needs something to guide the listeners ear a
bit more...

i just dont think it sounds like boc

they wouldnt use a synth like that and the hi hats get too
busy. theyre usually kinda crunchier too.

i'm not saying its bad i dig it, i just dont think "it...
sounds like boards of canada."

i agree. not bocish at all really. i think this sounds
like... you?

pretty good though

it sounds like pfs, and then something extra.... i'm unsure
what this 'extra' part is though.

Sorry for the misinformation then guys :*( But then again,
I'm quite glad it doesn't sound like BoC but sounds like
pFs!

thanks!

I think the structure is great.... but it sounds too
standard because the hi-hat and the drums are very static.

The voice sample is nice!

thanks hombre. It only took me a coupla hours that I had
spare while mother and baby were at the health centre :) I
actually like the percussion loop I must say, but I know
what you mean about static - I liked the kind of Robotic
feel they had.

Thanks for the compliment on the sample -- it's from a CBS
Mystery Theater radio play from 1975! I was listening to it
in my car on the way home last night and thought 'oho! I
like THAT and I'll sample it!' and so I did

'Well I can't very well call you the king of the universe;
you're only the prince of darkness'

This song is excellent! (Jim Carey from dumb and dumber: I
lllike it a lllot.)

As an extra bonus, this is the first thing we've found that
keeps Brian, the insane and very dangerous (even to himself)
retard, somewhat relaxed. As long as we kept playing him
this song over and over, we were able to take him out of the
padded room without him trying to rip peoples arms off or
break things with his head (he must wear a helmet at ALL
times but he likes that helmet so much he never wants to
take it off anyway.)

Ha ha, Brian finished eating and is wearing his red cape,
running around the room dancing to this track now.
Amazingly, this song has also proven a very nutritious
fertilizer for my collection of phalic cactuses. It makes
them nice and erect.

I love this song. A+
If you upload a half assed short sample of the main sound
units by themselves I could make a very bad "remix". Why you
would want to bother is beyone me.

nah man that'd be cool -- which track? I'll mail you the
separate wav samples :] probably be over several eMails cos
of the 10mb file limit.

I like how the beat changes up at around 0:59, and there's
some interesting stuff going on with the placement of the
sounds and the effects on some of the drum elements, which
keeps it interesting. I like how this is a relatively sparse
and somewhat easy to focus on each element, but it's all
still enough to keep the listener's interest. The sharp
synth lines and bassline are nice too. I think you probably
could've stretched this out longer though.

Naa, fuck it. I will just suck and I won't bother finishing
it but thanks anyway. Now I have to go do a load of laundry
in my bathtub because I've never had a washer or dryer.

thanks, Q - nice comments -- I was that close to
extending it, but finally decided not to -- didn't want it
to lose focus... but still, I'm one for abandoning pieces :]
might go back to it, but probably won't :D

w M w : well okay hombre -- if you change your mind, holler

na to be honest i dont think it sounds like BoC at all, even
if someone said "listen to this, its BoC's new tune" i
wouldnt believe them.

I'm not in anyway saying i dislike it, i just dont think it
sounds anything like them at all

Im too lazy to read every post so this may have been said
before.
I don't think this sounds like BOC, purely for the reason
they use a thicker synth sound, maybe from the tape esq
distortion.
All of the melodies are similar and the beats, nice natural
sound there btw.
