ok ive just started renoise and after much punching the
wall ive started geting to grips with it (id never used
trackers before) infact im starting to really like it, the
effect automnation is sooooo handy and i think if i can
persavere i shall stop using my regular sequencer and move
to renoise for good

I have to use both. You can make wave files without a
sequencer, and you can't edit the shit out of them (in a
musical manner) without a tracker.

T Y P O ! ! !
"You can make wave files"

I make loops in Reason, then fuck with them in ACID
(tracker)and soundforge.(wave editor)

never used acid used to use reason but really went off it
found all my songs started sounding the same (that was
prolly just me)

some reason triangle isnt picked up by renoise so i shall
have to go fix that when i start delving in proper

Acid 5.0 is awesome. But I'm gonna have to get into Cubase

acid rocks! it's just about all I use...

madtracker is a good tracker.

But once you get used to it, it's THE BALLS. You can do
really pro sounding shit with it. All the pro guys (Aphex,
Squarepusher, blah, blah,) use it.

I've never managed to get cubase to actually DO anything...

i thought aphex used his own custom software and i thought
the REAL pro's by pros i mean idm geeks used max msp ;)

theres nowt wrong with cubase realy but i can achieve the
same standards with other progs and more stability

The thing I like most about cubase is the time stretching,
lovely. VST's also rock.

i just started using soundtracker, which is light and easy.
i already prefer using a tracker to other stuff i've used so
far.

madtracker looks great.

I'd take anything that self confessed "ginger liar" said in
an interview with a pinch of salt.

if you think this version of madtracker looks great, wait
for version 3 (although it's like "more stuff coming soon"
only that he's actually actively releasing small upgrades up
until the final change...

Re:"no linux version"

There's hardly a Linux version of ANYTHING!
Yes, you hate Bill Gates, we get it. But why make all these
sacrifices?

now, madtracker has vst-support. and rewire, so you can hook
it up with cubase, ableton live or whatever.

patman: i didn't know acid was a tracker..?

sequencer.

I use more sequencer than tracker anyday, but as far as
editing soundforge/cubase are the best

"all my songs started sounding the same"

the problem isn't usually in the sequencer, it's in your
mind.

Actually I've only used trackers, never a sequencer.
Can someone tell me what sequencers do? How can you possibly
just make a wav file from scratch? Can you really just
contruct a wav file that sounds like, say, a drum, or do you
have to fuck with imported pre-existing wav files. Can you
manufacture your own tones with unique qualities and of a
pitch you determine?
