On a short walk to the grocery store, i surprised myself by listening to a non-idm compact disc (thats right, a cd)for a change, on which the following is printed (and recorded):
Nirvana ______
Nevermind
- Now, i know theres no point in even discussing how good this album is, but i was shocked at what this music did to me. I felt like starting a fucking riot. Like yelling at everything and everyone, jumping and crashing into the ground etc. which is sort of odd, considering i'm a disturbingly quiet person, 90% of the time. Of course, i remained quite calm, and i even donated some money to the dieren ambulance people who were outside the store. This led me to come up with the following conclusion:
Rock music is good for me and i need more of it. I need your help to compile a list of essential (grunge) rock albums of at least some or all of the following artists:
foo fighters skunk anansie smashing pumpkins queens of the stone age
I know i'm forgetting a shitload here, but i like a lot of stuff, basically. It's time for full albums instead of various loose mp3s.
Thanks a bunch! Especially you, dog_belch. It's just amazing how you people forgive me for shamelessly creating a thread like this, as if it should be frontpage news that i enjoyed nirvana's best album. Amazing! <3

you'll probably be getting loads of recommendations in here, but if you like that dirty guitar sound with harsh vocals, give "kyuss" a go. i can almost guarentee success! the guitarist for kyuss is the vocalist/guitarist for queens of the stone age. i started with "blues for the red son", moved onto "welcome to sky valley" (after a recommendation from this site) and then "and the circus leaves town". but take any route you see fit. now, don't forget. KYUSS!!

fly agaric: excellent suggestion
hanal: your ways of communication are strange. I actually wondered for a minute or so if 'hello bertie' was a band. Oasis, hmm, yes. Peppers, good idea.
lee: it doesnt have to be right up there with nevermind. What non electronic stuff are you enjoying at the moment?

Thanks! i'm looking for specific albums though. If in anyone's opinion a greatest hits album for a certain band is good enough, i'll get that.

Essential grunge album?
Pearl Jam - Ten. Better than any Nirvana release. Don't ask me why.
Quens of... are far from grunge; all of their albums are superb, I like Songs for the Deaf the most. Every track a hit.

I don't really like soundgarden or offspring.
the red hot chili peppers, pearl jam and are quite good.
Also obviously nirvana's other albums. That's what you should get first.
