This is cool. I was resting but awake and was consciously
aware of rapid eye movement taking place, and I figured out
how to trigger it so it takes place automatically with no
effort, like breathing or something.
I can do it right now still. Just rest your eyelids and let
your eyes glaze over. It's better if you eyelids are halfway
closed because detailed stuff in the light can distract your
eyes. What I did was look left and let my eyes drift right
very smoothly as if following a pretty slow moving bug (if
it's jerky movements it won't trigger the innate behavior).
Anyway, it sort of continues automatically after that. After
it triggers, it's a smooth natural speed sweep to the right
(easier to trigger going right, not left, for me) then a
quick dart back to the left, then repeat. Each sweep gets
quicker and quick until you're looking right and left really
quickly... just trying it again had me count about 14 really
quick rapid eye movements, then the last one stays in the
same spot for awhile then I think goes center again. I am
going to keep trying this and see if I can cause myself to
go into a seisure or something cool like that.

I think substitute a few of these for sleep every night and
see how long I can go. I changed my mind.

I have read all the Carlos Castaneda books. I learnt that
sleeping turnt on mah left-side does dreams more realiably
than mah right-side.
