no offense implied, redrum, but just like every other aspect
of low art, you just don't seem to get it.

here you go:

being obscene is an art?

No, I'm afraid I don't get it. Please elaborate on how Allin
was talented and deserves the following he got by means of
creating controversy.

gg allin is paris hilton:

they're both famous for reasons that shouldn't honour them
with fame.

Don't compare him to Paris Hilton.

I really don't get why everyone is so down on her.

Have you ever seen more than 3 seconds of that reality TV
show following her and her equally thick mate around?

she became incredibly famous for having lots of money and
then continued to fortify her fame by making a complete
caricature out of herself.

don't forget the sex tape. that was the first i'd ever heard
of her.

all i'm saying is: celebrity through notoriety is
undeserved.

this is especially the case in that fucker allin's case,
when he's bound to be known as a "musician" when really he's
just a circus freakshow... a performer of sick acts perhaps,
but definitely not an artist.

I guess there are qualities about him that i like. His shows
were dangerous and crazy. You never knew if he was going to
kick your ass while singing.

He was one of the most controversial people in the scene
ever. Inciting a riot at one of the shows. etc etc

i prefer my art without the threat of having feces thrown at
me, being sexually assaulted or beaten.

absent the masochism of the gg allin live experience, i'm
not sure there was ever any reason at all to listen to his
records, except maybe to sit and relish the thought of the
masochism of the gg allin live experience.

all notoriety, zero substance, imho.

undeserrved how? fame is fame. someone who does outrrageous
things is equally 'deserrving' of fame as someone who
prresents a daytime TV show.

how is it wrrong... and who exactly is in the wrrong?

Just out of interest.... why are we reappraising gg allin at
the moment? I remmeber seeing some footage of some concert
of his where the cops broke in and he ran out naked into the
streets. He's a bit hardcore for me... there's a bit in one
of the CKY videos where one of the members of CKY (the band)
pays homage to gg allin by sitting on his grave drinking a
whole bottle of Jack Daniels and listening to his music on a
discman, then getting up and urinating on the tombstone. It
was quite touching.

just because i think his "performance art" seems worthless
(to me personally) does not mean that i am missing the
point.

sheesh.

G. G. Allin was and still is a verry affecting charracterr.
Mentally unstable, clearrly. He's despicable at best, but
isn't that the point.

I find being rrepulsed quite rrefrreshing when i'm in the

He's using arrt to prrovoke an emotional rresponse. You
don't have to like it but you have to accept that what he's
doing is perrfectly valid.

not assume I just don't get it?

of course, that means accepting anything that anyone does
and labels "performance art" as "valid."

i blow smoke in your face and insist that i did no wrong
because i did not break any of the seven deadly sins. don't
get mad at me mate, it was all part of my new performance
series, being an asshole nutjob to everyone i meet.

doesn't this dilute the meaning of "valid"?

i'm playing devil's advocate, to an indefinite degree.

G. G. Allin often overr stepped the marrk. I don't condone
much of the things he said and did, but in the same way you
don't go to an Aphex Twin show if you don't enjoy his music,
you didn't go to a G. G. Allin show if you don't get some
kind of pleasurre frrom having shit in yourr face.

What you are suggesting in sarcasm is true in reality. Such
performance art IS art. However that doesn't take away your
right to dislike the art.

Or boot the asshole nutjob in his knackers. No, the law
takes away that right.

gg allin was arrested numerous times, his "art" was truly
"transgressive," "fearless" and "uncompromising."

GG's fascinating, that's enough for me. He had a very
atypical upbrining and life, and I'm glad he's famous,
otherwise I wouldn't have been able to read about him. His
music sucks, of course.

I don't think fame can be undeserved, you do have a point
there. she does seem to love being famous, she did seem to
want to acquire it.

but her reason for fame is one of the dumbest, wouldn't you
agree on that?
