I wanted to make a new topic for this. It CAN and WILL
happen if we make an effort. I have recieved some emails
already from a few people about wanting to help. We need
people to help with more than heading the project, but with
various other things. It IS a community effort and will be a
part of this Community just not specificly this messageboard
or site. But the community is involved. So do not worry.

2 Cd's may be a possibilitiy. We cannot involve Phobiazero
unless he REALLY wants to. Frankly Im not going to bug him
with stuff, in his already busy life. Thats just not fair or
possible.

Money is an issue, this IS for fun, but cant be something
not taken serious for people involved.

There will be 3 people reviewing the project, MAYBE one
more, no exceptions.

Suggestions will be open VIA email to me.
{reflexation@yahoo.ca} about how to screen the songs.... or
what have you.

Any ideas or suggestions send comments to my email at:

reflexation@yahoo.ca

You neglected to mention what exactly will be on this CD. I
presume tracks made by people on this site or remixes by
them? If you're planning on releasing remixes for money
there's the legallity to consider.

How about each of the regulars sends in their best 2 tracks
they've done and the "panel" chooses one of them (if either
of them are any good). How do we submit tracks and what
about doing albums on a theme, e.g. Selected Aphextwin.nu
Works. Or Drill and Bass by the AphexTwin.nu Crew.

I think one "ambient" album and one thats more "up tempo"
would be a cool idea.....

I would love to help in anway...I have a couple of tracks I
would want to donate....

Aye Aye Capt.

I think we should make a really treeible album on ruppose,
and send a copy of it to warp every month so they'll get
really sick of it... especially if there's a particularyl
annoying picture on the cd cover... like that picture of
reflex...

After the "definitive selection process"???

I agree it's a good idea! (i thought i was original in it,
but it turned out reflex was a bit further than is was : )

I think more people than 3 should be involved though,
everyone should be able to have some say in the project

I agree whitehead to an extent...We should definately have
someone ore a couple people taking care of 85% of main
compiling and setting up.....
This way it is a bit more organized....

Maybe somehow we could all vote on the tracks that get
picked....
on a seperate site or something after they are collected....

offline whitehead from Nicaragua on 2002-02-22 10:49 [#00096967]

It's just that is dont't think that 3 peoples opinions
represent the opinions in this community. These 3 that pick
out the tracks to go on the cd, may have a taste in music
others don't have, so really cool tracks might be left
off...

I think the picking of tracks should be a thing everyone can
participate in

Yeah I totally agree with that....

Like I said, perhaps ALL of us getting to vote which tracks
we like or want on each disc.

Points: 31271 Status: Lurker | Followup to whitehead: #00096967

i agree... but i think there must be two steps:
step one: everybody has the right to vote their fav tracks
step 2: after seeing the top voted tracks, a few selected
(those in charge should be elected by the rest too) do the
real work of tyhe tracks order in the cd and the way of
making it real

offline whitehead from Nicaragua on 2002-02-22 10:55 [#00096974]

if you are interested why not?
any interested in working on the cd has the right to do
it...so if more than neccesary want...then the rest vote who
they want to represent them...this way finally (as reflex
said) 3 or 4 people maximum work on it

I also believe in having a final "3 or 4" to finish it and
make it look and sound good....

I trust REFLEX and everyone else....

"ambient" disc)

imagine 25 people want to do it... well we ask phob to make
a pool in which we vote our 3 favourites... this way the 3
more voted will do it...
this is for step 2

for the first stage of the process:
to choose the tracks we can have a pool in which we vote for
our favourite 20 tracks and the top 20 (or as many as
possible to enter in a cd) go for it

offline nacmat on 2002-02-22 11:04 [#00096981]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker

yes i think we all trust reflex can do it... so it is sure
he would be elected... but for those that want another
person...it would be fair to have an election process so
that everybody sees that reflex does it cos he has been
elected by everybody...democracy you know...

How about doing it over, say, a year? There could be a
second "Weekly Poll" each week on whether a track should be
included or not and have different a track trying to get on
the compilation each week.

yes i agree in that it shall be a long process... but it
needs to be started soon.
long cos there are lots of tracks and lots of
people..thereby lots of decisions to take... doing it in a
hurry will be dangerous for the final quality.
i also believe it could be a good point that the official
release of the cd will take place at the PARTY.NU ... hehe i
already said this...but i think it would be awesome...as i
said before...imafine aphex or autechre djing your own
tracks

I also think a year would be efficent time...Perhaps have a
2002 christmas release of both discs.

Perhaps SINE could vote.....Um, I am not sure who else....I
really do not have a preference.

When can the "groundwork" be laid?
Would everyone be limited to "one" track able to be
nominated?

I agree on having say 3 people doing the final copy of it (4
is an even number, leading to 2 vs. 2 arguments). I think we
should vote for which tracks are best (maybe have them all
uploaded to a new section so people can check them out) then
vote for the 3 people to sort it out. Maybe try and get
Warp/Rephlex to release it if it is good enough and use the
profits to keep this site going (see Project X thread by
Phobiazero). It would be good for everyone, promotion of
the site, money for the site, recognition as an artist for
anyone whose tracks got on it. I think we should limit it to
3 tracks entry per person or it would take too long to
listen to them all enough to vote fairly. Anyone else agree?

I think I am on the same page as ya....
So your thinking...

3 entries per person, but only 1 can be picked for an actual
track on each disc.
??? Am i right???

EX:
IronLung can enter 3 songs and If worthy, the maximum that
could be used would be 2...One on each cd?

I think it sounds good....

I agree with Ironlung. Max of 1 track per CD no matter how
good a person may be. The CD ought to represent the
community's music rather than individual artists.

Hm, well I send everyone that emailed me a generic email....
check it here.

To ALL who emailed me about the "Community Vibes" Project:

Hi, its REFLEX here. I thought id give a SMALL update on the
info, for those of you who dont already know....

/ our goal is to get some copies legally pressed.
independantly.
/ it will involve peoples opinions and suggestions from the
AphexTwin.nu messageboard
/ Unless Phobiazero {webmaster there} contacts me about it
directly, it will not involve him, because he is damn busy
with other things.
/ There will be a small number of people overlooking it all
{pretty much running what goes on, with others ie: the
messageboard people helping along the way}
/ it will take a good long while, so dont hold your breath
/ I can use my FTP server I have, these details will come
later
/ We will be only doing 1 CD the first time.... yes, the
first time, there will be more if it works out all right.
/ money is involved, so iam taking it serious, if it gets
past the next few stages of development
/ we will need some other people to do various things...
unknown exactly.. as of now

Anyone have any ideas so far?

REFLEX

have it. Not everyone does ambient music or drill and bass,
and the community CD should reflect that.

Nacmats way is by far.. better. We cannot have everyone
voting on everything.... although voting on SOME songs or
stuff would work.

WE ARE NOT... I repeat not taking songs off we dont like,
just lower quality, its not hard to tell really. I mean come
on.

ITs that or it doesnt happen, because I cannot wait months
for just voting on it all.
