{spam} cave muncher

hi, I made a quirky little track called cave muncher which
I'd like some listens and views on. Thanks! Also, I made a
quasi polyrhythmic piece (4/4 and 20/16) or it may just be
in quintuple time - I haven't decided yet. It's on the same
page and called pirate.wings.... Also on that page is Icicle
Breath, a playful little piece which I admire.

Clickus Here

all tracks are, as usual, mercifully short.

pirate.wings is nuts, i can't keep up with it.

it would fit right in on super mario [NES], where you have
to defeat the 1st bowzer across the bridge.

cave muncher does sound quite analord-ish :P the end always
seems a bit of a surprise.

i wish i had a more productive response, except to say that
i liked the sweet sad punctuation to cave muncher. i found
myself thinking about how weird it is to be a humanoid
organism listening to this synth made by another humanoid
organism, and then thinking that it's weird to think that,
because after all there's nothing really weird about it at
all. it's only weird that it seems weird.

ha - maybe it was the bassline and it's occassional stabs
that caused this :] thanks for listening! If you make music,
can you link me to return the favour?

thee link is in my profile, if you feel so inclined. but
i'd prefer if you didn't think of it as a favor, since i was
motivated purely by self interest.

Pirate.wings wasn't really my kind of thing. As far as
chiptune type things go though it was pretty good.

Icicle breath. The "female voice" triangular waved synth has
a nice poigniancy to it. Good melody. I really wasn't
expecting it to change into, "Boards of Canada do House
music" half way through, but it worked suprisingly well.

I really like the acid line and the filtered drums
(particularly in that break that starts around 1:40) in cave
muncher, but I feel the chiptune synth detracts somewhat
from the otherwise mean, menacing, detroit atmosphere. The
'strings of hope' towards the end of the track are good, but
due to the comparatively short length of the track, they
make it seem as though there are too many ideas to really
gel into a cohesive track. Perhaps you could extend the
detroity elements it into a 5-7 minute epic dance track with
the strings forming a 'playout' over the last minute?

thanks for listening to all three, ceri!

pirate.wings was a little experiment I did on fruityloops --
I changed the number of sections per beat to 5, and
experimented along those lines. I'm not sure was a chiptune
is!

Icicle Breath - I do quite like this one - it's the one I'm
most likely to extend.

cave muncher - this is still my favourite of the three - I
really like that 'chiptune synth' :D I was happy with its
subtle progression throughout the piece. Maybe it's the beat
I should change instead of the bass? Or maybe separate them
and put the strings to the beat as one track, and make a
glitchier beat to go with the bass?

Ta!

The end of cave mucher is excellent...from about 1:30
onwards, wasn't feeling the first half though.

icicle breath I liked the feeling a lot.

pirate wings kept breaking up, put it sounds decent enough.

wow thanks Lee - I had mentally abandoned this thread and
had already started the grieving process for its puniness...
you've restored my faith in everything!

It's funny that Icicle Breath was the most flippantly made
track, yet seems to be the most popular! :o

very NESness with some analordish percussion. that
background synth is very good. its orgasmic to my ears.

the track is great, i've played this track several times
now, it's kinda addictive ! the 'chiptune synth', the
'strings of hope' at the end - all is yummy.

what the hell. these analog sounds are great, but those pads
dont fit! but this is real fresh. man those high hats are
clumsy. so funny so funny. that pad is awful!
and the melody sounds like its ripped from dj spree's cover
of neverending story.
but yes very weird and some nice sounds there. i love the
very beginning when the pad is out of tune with teh analog
shit

It's starts off promisingly enough, but then doesn't really
go anywhere. Work on your tracks structure. A famous example
is "Da Funk". There are only like four parts to the whole
song, but they are put together perfectly over about six
minutes without getting boring.
