i live in a big city from where i cant see the stars, but last weekend i went to the country side and spend my night staring the sky.
there i realized that Sirius is the only star wich i know the name.
i guess most of us dont know the constelations. but we should.
im searching the internets for some info. id be glad if you join my research and tell some stories of sky watching .)

i took an astronomy class during my second year in college. it was focused on stars and galaxies, and damn does it put you in perspective. interesting as hell, i would love to take it over. maybe when i go back to school when i'm 40 and need to learn new design software.

It's great project. I know the Big Dipper, as it looks like a saucepan, or olla, and Orion, which I can see by his belt, or cinturon. That's it. Sometimes I can see the Milky Way but then I get confused.

I wish one could see the stars in London but unfortunately there's way too much damn light pullution from unecessary streetlamps and cars.
I remember when I lived in Bolivia for a time near the cerros (something between a hill and a cliff) on the outskirts of the capital city and the stars were the most amazing thing because you could fully appreciate them and just lie there and reflect on how huge a universe really exists out there beyond our planet.

best thing you can do is get a pair of binoculars, with a 10 x 50 magnification. i used to have a telescope (half decent one at that), but i used the binoculars more because the telescope was so unwieldy.
used to be well into astronomy, still got a few books somewhere.
you can see the four major moons of Jupiter with a pair of binoculars.
