Yeah, this sounds like a blast, but LOTS of planning will have to go into it. I wonder how my mom would react if I asked her for a thousand dollars so I can fly over to England to party with a bunch of strangers I've never talked to? :-) I can seriously picture Nacmat walking into a club with a pink cap on. |

Why not treat it like a convention? The big conventions travel from one area of the world to the next for each con. If we did a similar thing and had an AFX.nu con in England, then the US, then Australia, etc, etc, then eventually there'd be an AFX.nu con that each of us could probably make it to. And the *really* hardcore fans could go to all of them :) |

hmmm... about the av stream u want to do over the net. My fater is working on a streaming project for the government. I guess this new mpg4 stream app apple is offering (for free). Alls u would need is a computer a quick line (t1+) and some digital video camaras (wich are pretty cheat right now for the low end ones...... well and a quick computer but im sure some of us have thos.... I think it could work X) |

How about if we had a central one in the U.K. this year and then changed country each year, but web-cast each of them to ensure that those who couldn't afford the time/money to go could at least watch? Blue Calx: The Mpg4 charges "per-stream" rather than "per-player". How about if there were say 2 fast(ish) laptops with digital cameras and we linked them to the hotel's internet connection (I'm sure some hotels must have a fast net connection). Failing that, what if people just videoed the event then put the highlights on the Community websites as Mpg or something after the convention? The only real problem I can see is lots of people saying they'll turn up, then not going causing whoever books the hotel/pub to be out of pocket. How about if people pay for their "ticket" to the venue in advance by cheque and then make their own way there? We could do it over a weekend. People fly in Friday, meet up Saturday afternoon, all day & night together then sunday "chilling out" time (Lots of SAW 2 played ;) ) and maybe an activity like go-karting/paintball. Then people fly back late sunday afternoon. True you'd be knackered for Work/School/College/whatever on Monday, but it'd be worth it. |
