well im not religious, so marriage doesn't really apply to me. i think if im with someone and it's a serious relationship, we can just leave it at that - why put up all the bells and whistles? everyone knows you are a couple so why do some stupid formality bullshit unless you want some ritualistic confirmation from someone other than yourselves to confirm your commitment to each other?
merriam-webster: an act of marrying or the rite by which the married status is effected; especially : the wedding ceremony and attendant festivities or formalities
-- common law is just as valid through the eyes of the law and i think it's the best option for myself. if you break up, you break up. if you stay together, you stay together. why make a big production out of it when you could divorce or even better - put so much pressure on the marriage that it causes divorce? haha.
mind you, im not saying that i dont believe other people should marry, im just saying i dont personally believe that marriage is anything valuable to me. i think it's old, traditional, religious and bunk :)
