Seriously, apparently it's an EP, yet it's got 10 tracks and then, oh dear fucking lord, it's got 3 BONUS TRACKS!!!! How are they BONUS TRACKS? Is this a limited edition set of free MP3s? As a special incentive to download, bonus tracks..... It just displays the mind-buggering conceitedness of humorless, non-self aware parodies of parodies IDM clones. Ok, let's listen.... you know, there are other artists from which to "draw inspiration" than Boards of Canada. I know that may sound CRAZY but it is actually true. Secondly, when one has heard Boards of Canada, watered down variations on the formula don't really sound THAT GREAT. Anything done in a BOC way sounds cool, but not always as exciting as the first few 10,000 times. Production, mad skillz, whatever, they're all present here, it's a pleasant enough listen, but jesus fuck, who has the time to listen to even more amateur BOC-lite? "Pez5", starts of BOCy enough, then that beat comes in to stamp the word BOC on your forehead. I hear one solitary influence in this music, two if you stick in Eno, and not one element of individuality, i hear cold, cod-nostalgic, received ideas, fifth-hand, stale BOC flavoured ear chewing gum. Anyway, fuck the hat0rz, here's a conciliatory *bump* |

glad to see you in a good mood, and yes, go buy all of marumari's albums, they are all great, especially "supermogadon." i'm not really getting the boc ripoff thing, but then again i haven't heard this new "ep." based on his second through fourth albums i'm of the opinion that he is one of the few electronic artists with a signature sound. then again, i don't believe that casino versus japan is a boc ripoff, either, so perhaps i can't be trusted. last but not least, thanks wimp!!!! also, i have your track "hey" on a summer cd compilation, it's a favorite... |

If it's not entirely a BOC ripoff then it's lovingly crafted Generic IDM. The opinions of other highly derivative artists should and will be discounted as horribly irrelevant. |
