from the Staalplaat newsletter, a review of the second Hafler/Autechre collaboration:
"THE HAFLER TRIO/AUTECHRE - æ3o/h3æ (2CD by Die Stadt)
This is the second time around for the Hafler Trio and Autechre to work together, following their mini CDs in the first package (see Vital Weekly 404). More than before it's hard to tell who does what here, even when it comes to know who did what disc. But both discs hold surprises. Like on the previous collaboration drones play an important role (like on many of the recent Hafler Trio releases, I hasten to add), but they are presented here in the form of an audio collage, meaning sudden changes, cutting straight into a new area. There are also other sounds used in a raw, almost electro-acoustical way - even when Mister McKenzie may not like me for using this word - like the opening of a door or water sounds. Stylistically this may run back to earlier Hafler Trio releases such as 'Brain Song' or 'The Sea Org', similar changes happen here. However one disc holds a short segment of pure digital noise, almost in a Merzbow/Mego fashion, and that is perhaps the biggest surprise of all. Although it's lasts a few minutes, this might be something that will be a new feature in the work of the Trio, or even for Autechre? It's these points that make this into a more than excellent release, a landmark. (FdW)

I can't find the release itself on either Staalplaat or Die Stadt. must be coming very soon though.

Didnt they get like $0 for the first album? I thought i read something like that on Hafler's site or something. Damn shame.

Really? That is good news! I was a bit disheartened at the shortness of the last album because i had throughly enjoyed it.
The extra length is going to work out great for walks and long drives! Most excellent!

Are they taking the piss with these releases or are they serious? It's hard to tell at times imho.
If you enjoy the releases and find them an interesting listen, that's great. Perhaps I am the one who is missing the point.

You are just into a different array of sound patterns, thats all.
I think people think that artists are taking the piss more than they are. Music is a way of expressing one's self. Hafler has a unique ability to make this music and perhaps our lovely AE friends enjoy it to and wanted to contribute.
I easily enjoy releases like this and anxiously await this release.

Excellent. I wish i had the cash to really catch up on the hafler back catalogue, it seems like a waste of time to me just downloading mp3s or whatever. I have to sit down with the thing itself and have a proper listen, it's really worth the effort.
I didn't think their first collaboration was shit-hot, but i have high hopes for this, oh yes.

I agree with you. The only reason the idea came to my head was from reading an interview with Ae where they mention the Hafler Trio. I can't remember the exact quote, and I probably misunderstood it.
I actually enjoyed their first collaboration to relax to.

I am sure that if you really scour (sp?) around you may find something but i am doubting it due to the fact that they were getting screwed on payments. Perhaps a repressing was in order and the guy refused or something.
This is all a blur to me at the moment i really hope that someone could shed some light on the subject.
Perhaps ebay? Didnt it come with a holographic cover or something?

not a holographic cover no, but quite elaborate anyway.
packaging is always an important thing with Hafler Trio.
