depression..but why?

I'm feeling really low at the moment and have taken some
time off the site for reflection, bit of karma etc.

this girl who is a friend of my mums has really liked me for
ages but she wasn't anything particularly special and we
used to chat at parties and stuff. Now my parents have a new
friend who attends our latin american gatherings/parties and
this girl and this new couple's son have gotten really close
and I feel terrible...almost heartbroken and I can't
understand why my stupid psyche realises I had feelings for
her all along but only saw it now...when it's too late.

anyone else been in my situation before? I wouldn't wish it
upon anyone. I feel depressed and the book I'm reading
('Heart of Darkness' by Joseph Conrad) isn't helping.
*sigh*
I've also really gotten into classical music as a result
which is perhaps the one good thing I can take from this
experience.

argh.

isn't it that you just want to protect the girl from boys as
a friend?

maybe....I don't know. I never felt anything for her until
she was with someone else. Now I can't stop and I feel like
a total twat.

I'm sorry to hear that, it really is one of the worst
feelings one can have. The moment you see the person who has
liked you for so long suddenly switch their attentions to
some new guy and it dawns on you that deep down you actually
had very strong repressed feelings for them all along, it is
something that I've never felt before. Just like a sudden
darkness over you and the willingness to just cease existing
(not in a suicidal way, just in a metaphysical evaporation
of life)

*sigh* I cant see myself getting over this one

how do you know she likes you in that way? and if you are
sure that she did then im pretty certain she will still feel
the same about you, so maybe you should call her and
explain..?

at least you would have peace of mind.

i wonder if what you really miss is relishing the situation
in which you know that a girl is interested in you, even
though you're not interested in her. it's not surprising
that you are more attracted to her now that she's
unavailable. you're looking to fill the emotional void that
was filled by her interest in you, and the result is a surge
of desire for the girl you can't have. chances are, if she
did end up ditching her current interest for you, you'd lose
interest in her pretty quickly.

take some time to try to understand your true motivations,
ask yourself why you feel the way you do. if you're sincere
and honest, you'll get useful feedback. best wishes,
weasel...

The only way to feel betterr is to take a gun, put it to
yourr head, pull the trriggerr and blast everry last
conscious bit of sponge that's in therre all overr a wall
orr piece of furrniturre. Otherrwise you have to get on with
it and accept this is going to happen again and again and
again... and that no one carres because it's happening to
them. That's the harrdest lesson to learrn... no one gives a
damn.

Most people can't deal with complete honesty in combination
with and ability to express your opinions with logic. The
truth is, unfortunately boring and more difficult to
maintain. If you can appreciate the challenge, you will see
other people trying to do the same thing. To say what they
truly mean and the way it was meant to be said. This
eliminates 95.242% of all potential idiotic pissheads that
will come your way because they don't know how to do it and
it's blatantly obvious.

In summary, mind over matter. Shitty people don't matter.

it's the classic child like "want you can't have" syndrome
but it's just that when you are an adult you allow yourself
to dwell on something. self pity and depression are very
different things, just get on with your life and stop being
pathetic.

I went to the outside Hyde park during the live8 event to
catch some of the buzz, and I saw a group of Krishna
worshippers walking around ringing bells, singing chants,
and playing drums. They looked quite frightening, and there
was a random drunk anarchist shouting over them through a
megaphone which made it even more exciting.

I saw a man with an Aphex Twin t-shirt and got quite
excited.

A happy day.
