hi, basically i use a USB modem to connect to the net, which makes use of the NDISWAN protocal rather than TCP/IP, and i need to share the internet connection with the network.
When i install Internet Sharing Connection it only lets me select the "Dial-Up Adapter" connection to share and not my modem.
any ideas? cheers.

on this computer the modem is called "BT Voyager ADSL Modem" and has it's own protocol or "NDISWAN -> BT Voyager ADSL Modem".
with Internt Connection Sharing installed there is no "Internet Connection Sharing (protocol) -> BT Voyager ADSL Modem", just "... -> Dial-Up Adapter" "... -> Internet Connection Sharing" and "... -> Ethernet Adapter".

why does it have to be "BT Voyager ADSL Modem -> Internet Connection Sharing "?
What's wrong with the way it is? What's the problem?

at the moment my second computer cannot access the internet, as the Host computer can only share the "dial up adapter" and not my actual modem connection.

Maybe you should get yourself a cheap router.

Have you tried removing the NDIS's and adding a tcp/ip instead? It should still work
You'l probably need the 98cd though unless you can get it from the cab flies

when i add another tcp/ip protocol it just binds it to the Dial-Up Adapter, so i can't link it to my actual modem.

remove the ndis (ALL of them) > restart > add tcp/ip and is should add one for every adapter then

removed ndiswan's and restarted, it removed me BT Voyager adapter too. i added tcp/ip and it just added another protocol for "dial up adapter".

ok tried again, this time with the USB modem plugged in.
removed ndiswan protocols (which also removed BT voyager adapter), restarted, on restart my computer detected the USB modem and reinstalled all required protocols (i.e. NDISWAN) and restarted again.

you have a couple of options. 1. you can buy a hardware router (maybe wireless) with or without an adsl modem built in, then connect each pc via cat5 cable or wirelessly (this is a good option if you get a router with a firewall built in and its not that expensive) 2. you can download a software proxy package which allows you to tunnel the information through the main PC (the only problem with this is that the PC directly connected to the internet must be switched on for the other computers to have access). a good one is available from analogx.com, it is just called Proxy. To connect them this way you can use either a crossover ethernet cable or a hub with normal ethernet between the pcs and the hub.

hmm, the proxy is working but firefox is acting up...
for example, when i try to load http://www.xltronic.com/mb/ a '404 Not Found' error appears with the 'Google' logo in the top left hand corner of the page. the error reads:
"The requested URL /mb/ was not found on this server."
it's as if it's looking for http://www.google.co.uk/mb/
any ideas? :S
