...about the future...

Both Joyrex and I have planned an building an IDM portal
site for a long time now. But neither of us knew what the
others have planned.

So, by a coincidence, we found out what was going on and we
discussed the idea about joining forces, thereby building
the ultimate IDM portal. We negotiated for some weeks (!)
but we found out our ideas and concepts differs a lot.

I have decided to drop the collaboration idea for a while
and instead continue on our own concept. Sure, it'll collide
a bit w. Joyrex, but I'll try to focus on other alternative
artists like Jega, Bola, John Callaghan, Autechre, Aphex
Twin, Plaid/Black Dog and Alder&Elius to mention a few.

Joyrex and I are not enemies and who knows what the future
will bring? I still like the collaboration idea and in the
end we could take the best parts from two worlds, but now is
not the right time.

The purpose of this message is to point out that when our
new portal comes out, it wont be a plagiat of Joyrex. We're
not stealing any ideas or concepts and I'm sure Joyrex will
confirm this.

Don't expect anything before summer. ;-)

Who's this mysterious Joyrex character? He sounds familiar.
Does he go to St Mary's Catholic church in Dinas Powys? I'm
sure he's the guy who bashes the tambourine.

I've always thought this site and Joyrex are the only
"serious" sites worth visiting for Aphex news etc(ok,apart
from Warp and Rephlex). It's only a natural progression that
both sites expand, but, hey,i kinda like the friendly
competition! }:>

Yes, it's a natural progression, especially since I'm
already maintaining three diff. IDM sites (ae, plaid, afx)
and a lots of benefits would be gained by merging them.

Actually, we had a poll in May 2001 regarding an IDM portal.
Check it.

Phobia: If wearethemusicmakers.com leaves out µ-ziq you
should definately include him. We won't need two competing
resources, but right now we have none!

I understand,
I really look forward to it, I'm with you all the way phob.

So is the current plan now to release the rest of v5 and
then move over to working on the new site? Will there still
be a v6 in the future or will this site be dropped/absorbed?

Points: 10507 Status: Webmaster | Followup to Xanatos: #00094035 | Show recordbag

We will finish V5 first. Many of the new
features/coding/engines will be used in the upcoming
"mastodont" site (eg. Project X), so it's necessary to
continue the V5 project.

aphextwin.nu v6 will be a part of the new site (eg. Project
X). all user accounts will remain. we're recycling stuff,
sort of.

I hope this sentence hasnt been missunderstood:
-"i would never think you could do any plagiat... never
seeing
the good job on this site... "-
i of course mean i dont believe tha phob would ever copy
since he has already done the best site... I explain cos i
ve read this post of mine a minutes ago and i realised that
it could be confusing.
thats my little english problem.

Phobia: You might want to forgoe a µ-ziq site, as Schmee
(planet-mu.com) is already working on one for Mike P
himself...but that's your choice.

Just remember, whatever comes of all this, you all will
benefit greatly from our planned sites - never doubt this!

I think you all should split up and cover different artists.
Like Phob gets Aphex and Joyrex gets BoC and then divide the
rest, then there could be a wider scene opened up.

mine...good! Variety is the spice of life!

Q: is 'plagiat' the swedish word for plagerism or to
plagerize?

Phobiazero the "Project X" site sounds just great in my
opinion, im all for it, donations as well.

The collaberation site is also a good idea, but if the
concept and creation ideas clash then ofcourse it wont work
out.

I cannot wait to see what happens.

That sounds good Phobiazero.

Why not have a section on unsigned IDM artists on your site
as well? like a short description for each one and some
links to their own homepage? You could just include the
ones that you thought were good or something.
