I have one and it is lovely. I use Limewire rather than slsk
which gets me all I need.

quick? yeah for sure. get as much RAM as you can though if
you want to run heavy imaging apps. honestly it is joyous to
use, you will not regret it.

they are well behind windows laptops though i don't think
they have upgraded the CPU speeds significantly in ages...
the OS is nicer but if your current setup only just copes
then don't bother.

thanks guys.

i need it for business though.. so it wont have hundreds of
mp3s etc. clotting up the memory. i would go for the 1gb of
ram i think though for photoshop cs2 and dreamweaver mx..

CPU speeds are not the most important thing.

intromettesse dicendo... cazzate... come faccio con
wooferattack.

ciao! ;)

at the same time.. multitasking will be important for me..

well now that Apple merged with Intel, you'll be seeing the
powerbook "g5" sooner than expected. it might be worth it
to wait, though the newest PB's are still quite nice. I use
SSX as a Mac slsk client and it is truly elegant and without
a single problem.

merged?

I wasn't aware that using Intel processors instead of IBM
constituted a merger.

YOu also get garageband rolled into Tiger which is nice and
easy to use for quick tracks. Honestly, take the plunge you
won't regret it.

LAZY_Thread

Before spending thousands of dollars on a powerbook, maybe
you might want to look here.

I never really have any problems with my pc. The only times
that I ever come across problems or incompatibility issues
are when I am using dodgy cracks of software that I
shouldn't be using anyway.

thanks, ive actually read that. it doesnt concern me because
there's no way i will place such demands on the machine. im
not arsed about gaming on it, its for business really. no
one else in this fred has had issues.

Um, I don't really understand the question here. Surely so
long as you CAN sort out a network point you CAN hook up to
the net. Aiport is just a mode of doing so.

Im in the same boat Exaph, pretty much deciding between a
12" and the 15". I do video but I'll keep doing that on my
desktop machine (AMD64 3.5ghz with a gig of ram, raptor
hds.)

I wanna be able to run cubase, reason and ableton
comfortably.

Can a powerbook ie 1.5 ghz with 1.256gB ram or the 1.67 with
1gb ram do this?

The apples are so tempting. Walking into the apple store the
demo powerbooks do seem to get incredibly hot.

ppc will be supported for years to come... if you need a
PowerBook now, there´s no need to wait. the first
intel-macs will probably need some revisions to mature...
