My mate just asked me this, and I was deeply saddened by
the fact i didn't know. I must be the only person on the
board who doesn't know.

tell me or kill me, either is fine.

lol. don't speak like an elitist twat.

Fun Fact: Chavism originated in an attempt to ridicule the
aristocracy and well-spoken.

please don't say elitism. It seems to be getting confused
between posh and snobbish, and literate. Like banning
grammar schools because they have entrance exams, and
removing Shakespeare from the sylabus (which I can't spell
because I'm not). :S

i'm merely pointing out that elitism is what many snobbish
people envision, along with xenophobia.

I always envisioned them as being two old professors with
grey hair and huge glasses fiddling about with big machines
and touching lots of knobs.

If they've got GCSEs they're still young in my book.

I love you too, but your husband may get jealous.

Are you going to Glade this year? You can beat me up there
to get me back for my stupidity and "prickness", then we can
be all cool and shit, and I can be like "Yo, core or mira,
how's shit?" and you can be like "OK, prick".

outside the venue @ austin last month,

sean: "how old are you guys?"

me & everyone else: "18, 18, 19, 20" (i was the oldest,
being 20)

i forget what he said exactly, so i wont misquote him, but,
his expression was more or less absolute terror mixed with
embarassment and refusal/reluctancy to believe all of these
hardcore AE fans are so young.

I think most artists' hardcore fans are young, though,
really. But I can imagine the terror of realising it
regardless.

But that's good! It will be decades before their fans are
too senile to keep track of new releases.

Yeah it's a loyal following. There are a couple obvious
sycophants but you know who they are right off the bat and
you ignore them.

That was the first time I really met any other cats who were
really into their stuff that were my age. So you're right
that the younger folks seem to reprezent, haha. There was
one guy who, like me had only been able to attend the 2001
show with a fake ID. And for some it was their first
autechre concert and they were so excited and buzzed from
the show itself. Was really freakin cool and energizing us
hanging out w/ the dudes themselves and all.

And I met this BANGING chick. Name was Vanessa. Oh my god
she was beautiful. Beautiful brown skin. Beautiful
complexion. And for fucks sake she was into AE, the
oldschool stuff, the new stuff. I was in disbelief.
Unbelievable combination of traits. Pretty much fell for her
right there being the pussy that I am.

See I had sean and rob sign the front cover of the issue of
Wired they were on for myself, but, you know she and I had
been chatting before and during the show, and I decided to
give it to her. Let me tell you man it was awesome, but, she
has not called or text messaged or emailed me since that
damn evening. And she still has my mother fucking mag!!!!!!!

is that really young?
i mean, the kind of music isn't exactly music for grumpy
grown-up's imo...

It's abrasive tones could calm their foul tempers into
something more beautiful and compassionate.
