Hollaback Girl I think is excellent, I don't know how people can find it annoying. Neptunes make it a classic. I love huge beats like that, and I like the synth brass. And that sine wave dive within the beat, is just crying to be pumped through a club soundsystem. Most beats get all muddy when played loud through a PA, I think, but this one sounds better than normal, the attack is so sharp, and the bass is totally clean. I have endless respect for the Neptunes. But produced by anyone else it would be shit, so doesn't say much for Gwen's talent really - all the other singles are annoying as fuck. |

I like her music. No Doubt's "Don't Speak" video was on the other day and I'd forgotten how much I liked it. Her new stuff is good too. I don't like the fashion/image aspect of her solo stuff, but the tunes are for the most part really good pop music. |
