i saw Huun-Huur-Tu and a swiss duo stimmhorn last night. it
was really impressive, the stuff they can do with their
voices..the drummer was totally into autechre judging on his
drum patterns..

stimmhorn were the ones i prefered though, they use those
big alp horns and vocalist also does throat singing and
plays accordian and some electric strings thingy..they were
improvising a lot and i always love to see that.

if you get a chance to hear this throat singing stuff live
don't miss it!

throat singing has become a minifad amongst me and some
friends. its really funny when you walk by a room and hear a
bunch of people going
"oooooooouuuuuuuiiiiieeeeeeoooouuuuuuuuuuu."

it's a special technique where the best of them can sing up
to five melodies at once i think..it's quite spooky too to
be honest :) but lovely to listen to!

what youre doing is using your mouth to create extra
resonance chambers within your mouth/throat, allowing you to
sing two or possibly three different notes at once. its hard
to explain, but once you get it its pretty simple.

one of my frinds is a fan of throat singing. he can not sing
this way, no, but he surfes internet for information about
this thing, then gives it to his friends. and some music, of
course. another friend said that several buddhists come to
kiev once a year and make their throat singing concert (with
master-class). I'll try not to miss it, yes.

this is beautiful... is it all coming from peoples voices?
it seems like there has to be some kind of crazy reverb and
panning effects on top of the voices... if its all natural
then it's fucking mindblowing.

i don't believe it's ALL natural - either studio effects or
(less probably) acoustics fo the hall.

i don't hear any throat singing in that song i think..they
also perfom traditional folk tuvaian songs. there's some
throat singing towards the end, that high pitched tone..it's
beautiful! i think you can hear some of that in 'karmacoma'
by massive attack, it sounds exactly the same although they
probably used synths for that..

There´s quite a lot of throat singing on KLF´s "Chill out"
- sounds really special, one person singing two melodies at
once....

here's stimmhorn's site with downloadable mp3's, i
haven't heard the songs yet but i'll comment when i hear
them :)

maybe.. you see, honestly i haven't listened to very that
track. I just knew a site of amateur throat singers club,
and gave one link from several which they have online. One
can browse the site for more.
I'm speaking basing upon throat sung music which i already
have - concerning studio/natural question.

in that track, there is lots of reverb on the voices and
very little throat singing.

ok.. i 've just posted the first mp3 that I've found on that
site. There are some articles with clean examples of throat
singing, no arrangements and accompagniemento. Didn't want
to download it to check..
And what about that second site - khoomei.com? there must be
a lot of samples for sure..

yeah, i wasn't trying to be critical of you - just trying to
clarify for everyone since there seemed to be a little
confusion.

i'll check out the other site. :)
