i love 'escape from new york', 'the fog' and 'halloween'
('assault on precinct 13' and 'dark star' is kinda shitty,
but the movies are pretty neat)...

what else should/would/must i love? any similiar
soundtracks? composers? artists? music? etc?

tell me and i'll give you a banana. i need more of that
primitive late 70's/early 80's analogue (arp, linn,
sequential circuits) stuff.

you might like Jerry Goldsmith's score for "Logan's run",
which is quite excellent and a combination of orchestral
music and synthesizers.

in the same vein would be Wendy Carlos' "Tron" soundtrack.

also look into Fred Karlin's magnficent "Westworld" OST.

that's just his/her "Bach switched-on" work isn't it?

that's quite different to "Tron".

"Switched-on Bach" I mean.

I don't know, I do like Carpenters stuff, but not those Bach
reworkings.

it's quite different, yes. i thought it was similar in
sound, though.

I don't think so - the "tron" soundtrack is part real
orchestra and part synthesized stuff (which at the time was
a real feat to synchronise).

although perhaps the synthesized parts may sound like the
Bach stuff - I don't know exactly. a lot of "tron" is a
combination of orchestra and synthesizers so the overall
sound is different, I think.

i'm talking specifically about the synthesized music in a
clockwork orange. and i didn't mean to compare it to tron -
i meant it fit the sound he was looking for in this thread.
but i could be wrong about that as well.

What's wrong with the 'Assault on precinct 13' soundtrack?
That's a defining Carpenter classic, surely? Surely!

the Christine soundtrack is good too, more ambient than his
other ones. maybe roedelius' Selbstportrait album too, from
the same time.

always prefered the bits wendy carlos did on the shining
soundtrack to the other ones

roedelius.... hmm, maybe it is Rob from the Autechre Twins,
after all.

thanks for all your suggestions... i'll try to, er... find
some 'extended demo' downloads of 'em.

speaking of roedelius, i must put on some cluster or that
second harmonia lp. tremendous stuff!

i prefer the first harmonia album to De Luxe actually,
didn't like the one they did with Eno at all though

Can somebody here who knows about Roedelius confirm that
that track of of Bowie's "Low", "Weeping Wall" is very
similar, just so I'm not going mad?

no, i doubt it, as far as i know its just brian eno's doing

I guess Eno, as producer in said track, had more of a hand
than Mr Derek Bowie. Which is interesting. I can't remember
what the Roedelius track is, that loon Elusive gave it to
me... but that too was an Eno product.
