that's it im tired of grabbing more and more directories
im tired of finding an album i like then pulling down all 14 albums/eps from the same user ; 90% of which ill never listen to
im sick of only liking a few tracks off an album
sigh, it's for the better

Eluso here has discovered, finally, that devaluing music to to point of harvesting it like so many fucking fish in a trawler does affect your ability to appreciate it. When, in the "bad" old days, when you didn't have much money and you had to choose with care what records you bought, you found you actually listened to them. Now, fucking miserable kids, hard drives creaking with unlistened to back catalogues, credit cards maxxed out on orders for 10 - 20 albums at a go... you know what, FUCK YOU.

who the hell said i don't enjoy it?
i just have all this music on my box that i'll never have time to listen to because it usually takes me a SOLID 3-4 weeks with an album to truely get into it.
so ill start removing some.
i don't think you quite get my vector, but im used to that by now.
by "collecting" i mean browsing someones files and just saying "download download download" then i store it.
that happens, yes ... but it doesn't take away from any albums that have power over me
qrter, we dont have many record stores around here and i dont live in a big city so i can just walk there and the sort; dunno if oyu can understand that?

i've downloaded many albums last year on slsk that i didnt listen to ; but i'm listening to some of them now ( i can't use slsk anymore due to my connection ) ; just have a break from downloading and take the time to listen ; if you don't like all tracks of an album just make compilations

i think im only 1/2 getting my point across
i should try to be a little bit clearer.
i have tons of albums that ive purchased after hearing online; i take plenty of time to listen
i was merely stating that i have way too much music and ill never get around to listening to it all because of how much time is required for me to appreciate an album, that i might as well just start deleting it
better? anyone agree?

information overload: one of the new diseases of the information age. there is so much information now, that is available at your fingertips, that it becomes very difficult to decide where to invest one's time.
either that or you're just a damn dirty pirate. arrrr!

my roommate used to pirate software, video game roms, you name it, 24/7. he filled spools of blank cd-roms. he never actually played any of the roms, or used any of the software.
i think it's some sort of insanity.
i talked to him about it a few times. it seemed he simply couldn't not download the stuff, because it was there, and it was valuable.

scary =S a friend of mine has the complete discogrphy of the wu tang-clan on his computer ; once i started to put 36 chambers but he said "what is that shit ?" ; i answered "it's in your mp3s dude !" and he said "yeah but it's crap"
it's an example among others : he has a lot of mp3s, divx, games etc just because he once had the opportunity to dl them, but in fact he really doesn't care about

jkd, i used to do that when divx came out 4 or so years ago i had spools of cd-r movies
i owuld watch a lot of them (because back in the day we didnt have hdd space to accompany all those movies!! so they had to be stored on cd-r)
then came the dvd burners, yadda yadda
i gave it all up i havent even copied a dvd movie in the past 1-2years (ok, like 3-4 over the past couple years)
im doing great on the video
but now it's the damn music :)
i don't have a lot of games; i just cleaned out a LOT of my TV episodes so im good there.

divxs should really still be stored on cd-rs or in multiples on dvds.
it's pointless keeping 700mb files on your HD that you'll watch maybe 5 times per year MAX, or once or twice more likely.
Music however is listened to every single day and so it's prime hd filling material.
good luck with stopping collecting music - i've contemplated this a few times over the last year since i got broadband, since i devoted so much time to getting around the college firewall and finding music and sorting it..
i guarantee you your vacation from piracyland won't last.
